Fun fact: the reason Zukos shit haircut is 90% bald and 10% ponytail is because if someone survives an Angi Kai like he did, they shave around the ponytail as a symbol of dishonor and shame

That makes sense I always figured it was like that cause he had to shave away most of his hair because it got burned away after the Agni Kai and he just kept like his hair like that to be reminder of what happened and to serve as a source of shame

This guy went from an earth king soldier to unleashing hell on the world because he got hit on the head, Sokka is his real enemy and the reason this whole war started. (p.s. He was Hiroshi in Korra, mind blown.)
@ButterflyScarlet

While the general's actions do make sense, as triggering the avatar state would end the war for everyone, it also is not a good idea to unleash a crazy powerful and now extremely vengeful child trapped in a state of perpetual rage and grief and with control over every element on the world. Also it's super fucked up to traumatize a kid. Aang is 12.

Nah I do think the general is an idiot. I can't forgive him trying to put all that guilt on a 12 year-old and his plan was also pretty stupid. He doesn't know what powers he's messing around with and they could easily destroy them before the Fire Nation. I get the war has been going on for too long and taken a toll but his methods are awful and he didn't think this through in the slightest.

He also didn't account for Aang being a literal child. Yes, he can function as a nuke depending on circumstance. But. He's also a child. Its interesting that you compared this show's ability to build tension to The Incredibles, since I'm fairly sure the creators of ATLA have a similar philosophy about animation as a medium to Brad Bird. One thing I’ve wondered about firebending, and specifically the scene where Zuko is fighting Azula because she betrayed his naive trust, is the fire daggers technique. Surely jets of flame don’t have a tangible enough property outside of burning to make daggers of fire in any way effective enough to use them like actual daggers. And the same question is also applicable Azula using firebending to cut through buildings in her first fight against Aang in the abandoned town with Zuko also fighting both of them. The only way I can see it working is that because the fire is generated by chi extending from the body to create the fire, does it have a more physical force than a typical flame? Like, does it generate a thrusting force by default without the effort of explicitly physically pushing or throwing flames? Because otherwise I feel like there are certain firebending techniques that wouldn’t amount to as much if they connected as it would be implied. Obviously they can burn things but they’d likely lack energy to physically impact a target.

All the bits with iroh and the badgermole proffesor part made me laugh the hardest.❤ I know you already get enough recs but I'm only mentioning it because I think it'd be right up your alley. There's this 23 episodes anime called Great Pretender and it's about a bunch of conmen pulling of impossible heists. I know you like action and trying to guess twists. Not to mention the show is definitely more mature and feels more like something cut together from Hollywood movies then a typical anime which makes it feel both unique but also familiar which is another thing I think you'd enjoy.
