autoloader can be user for ez stages for more "powaaa" (power) eg i lvling wash and using zombi ship in 6-1 which so ez so instead using defensive tools i could go autoloader for my vanguard its not like wasted but more which one is ur prioritize i guess :D

She's also one of the few BCs that can use CL guns as auxiliary guns, so she fares better against kamikaze ships. In fact, given the choices, do by all means give better guns to your BBs and BCs when you have them.

Frontline, gun boats with autoloader will get some decent damage boost, but generally you want survivability gear on them. So autoloader isn't too useful late game.

It seems in term of offensive auxiliaries US Gunboat Light Cruisers (all guns, no torpedo) get the short end of a stick, as their only viable items are SG Radar and Autoloader. And they get naturally high stats in both department to start with so the effect aren't as noticeable, were they not?

Welp I only have Warspite at lvl 76 and Prince of Wales at lvl 70, kind of struggling through D-section of event. Usually I spam carrier backline with Illustrious, Enterprise and Unicorn, and put Laffey, Atago and Jav on the front. But the oil cost is HUGE, and they don’t hold up well.

YMMV but here's what I'd do. Healer needs fast cooldown to maximize healing. For Unicorn this is Barracuda TB and either Seafang or Zero fighter. Seafang has better damage but Zero launches faster. Getting an extra aircraft launch as a battle ends still gives full healing even if damage never lands, so the speed is valuable. Shouhou still runs Barracuda but has options on her DB - Fairey is fast but does exceedingly weak damage, SB2C is still the best damage but is slow, and Comet is a fast DB with compromised but not nonexistant damage. I'd run Unicorn if using a BB/AR/CVL backline as her support ability won't be wasted like Shouhou's. In a backline with a CV Shouhou becomes more compelling and you'll want to choose her planes to be just slightly faster to launch than your CV to make the most of Air Support's buff. For repair ship (Akashi) Crane, Healing cat's paw, and Toolbox or Air radar. You want to push her HP as high as possible to maximize her healing output but if planes are a problem her 4 effective AA gun mounts make an Air Radar a decent option. Vestal is simply worse on the support she brings though she's a great AA platform/extra hit of zombie for 3 oil at LB0.

They use horrible ammunition choises (Normal, San shiki) and the gold quad 356 cant hit a single target as well as having meh damage and fire rate.

They aren't all terrible. High spread is bad against single ships, but scatter and multiple shots is great to ignite and clear mobs, fast bombing ships, aircraft or ships with high evasion, because of higher probability that some of your shots hit. I like HE scatter guns...

@@miskatonic6210 Yeah I use the gold Quad 356 on QE for this reason and have the gold 410 on Terror where main guns don't matter and both are great for igniting enemies. But the quad 356 has meh firepower and meh reload speed while the gold 410 has the shittiest damage output from a battleship/battlecruiser while the gold RN 406 is just insulting.

What effect does the firepower stat have on final damage? There is a gold Triple 406mm Main Gun that has almost the exact same stats as the purple version, save for 4 less damage per shell (12 less per volley). Does the extra 20 points of FP make up for that?

the gold triple 406mm has normal type ammo which causes it to have overall lower damage against all armor types vs HE ammo and doesn't have the ignite damage which is significant. Also the way firepower works is that the firepower stat number is a % added on to the weapon's damage. So if a battleship has 250 firepower, it will do +250% extra damage (350% total damage when considering the base of 100% dmg) based on the weapon's damage. adding 20 extra firepower will turn 350% total damage to 370%, which is an overall damage increase of ~5.714% (which is a lot less significant than the damage bonus that HE ammo gives vs all armor types compared to normal).

Haven't tried it but I think no. Bombing ships are the biggest problem since Yorktown is a carrier. And lv100 cap is another problem. Monarch + Phoenix combo works on World 10, but that requires lv105+ Monarch (with 20+ research level) and lv115+ Phoenix.

purple 155mm is the same as gold except -20 firepower. twin 381mm ap gun is terrible..you lose lots of dmg, better to use 410mm HE.

liquidefreet it’s not recomended specifically because it’s shot 4 shells instead of 3, plus reloading time. The max damage of a gun can be utilize if all the shells hit the enemy, so having lesser shots actually helps on focus damage

How is the Quadruple 356mm main gun vs the 406mm MK6? It looks comparable, but I definitely don't know the inner workings of this game yet.

the quad 356mm (even the gold version) isn't very good compared to the purple 406mm mk6. If you look at their flat dps at 0 upgrades, the 356mm does (48 x 4)/33.36seconds = ~5.755 dps while the 406mm does (60 x 3)/30.02seconds = ~5.996 dps. When enhancing, the 406mm also gets a much bigger boost per enhancement to both the damage and fire rate compared to the 356mm. Looking at the first enhancement, the 406mm gains +10 x 3 = +30 damage and -0.60 seconds on fire rate while the 356mm gains +7 x 4 = +28 damage and -0.42 seconds on fire rate, so the 406mm gets better upgrades on both damage and fire rate (and this isn't even considering the gold 356mm having a higher enhancement cost). Comparing spread range, the 356mm has 25 spread vs 22 spread on the 406mm which means the 356mm has a higher chance of one or more shots missing the target since they spread further. The one advantage that the 356mm does have is that the gold version has an extra 20 firepower. The +20 firepower can be a decent boost at low levels, but when you get lvl90+ BBs like washington, the damage gain falls off hard. example: for a low level BB with base 100 firepower, when you factor in gold main gun + purple secondary vs purple main + purple secondary, you get 170 firepower vs 150 firepower. with the way FP works, you get 2.7x base gun damage vs 2.5x base gun damage, or an 8% damage increase which is OK. compare that to a max level washington with 385 FP before weapons + gold secondary, and its 5.75x dmg vs 5.55x damage which only ends up being a 3.6% damage improvement.
