Yet again, Quality Content!!! This explains alot really, having done the AZ-900 late Feb and having done the MCSA 2016.... I want to put myself to the test. Next Week Friday, want i love about Microsoft compared to the other Vendors "aka says Cisco-boy" my nickname :) is that they are affordable. I want to challenge my MS knowledge and go out there for the AZ-103 having worked with Azure in the past i'm confident enough to skip that hurdle. Will be sure to check out the training below! Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos!

Mr. Knox, thank you for your videos, very helpful for me. I don't unterstand something about Azure Certifications. From my experience the "developer world" (people working on developing systems-using programming languages) is very different in daily and frequent tasks to "servers/network administrators world" (windows server, networking, mcsa, mcse old days) . It is very strange for me that an Azure Expert have to work with server expertise for Azure Adminsistrator (AZ-103) and Developer Expertise (AZ-203). In my experience, most IT workers work with developing of systems (ex. programming languages in day to day tasks) OR infraestructure (servers, networks, operating systems in day to day tasks) but not BOTH. I don't have any experience of developing systems. may have sense for me training to learn and pass for AZ-203 Azure Developer Training? Is it common and very desirable having AZ-103 Azure Administrator Training and AZ-203 Azure Developer Training at the same time?
@DataKnox4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely valid points and questions, and the cloud is what is breaking down this barrier between systems and developers. An architect truly builds their own solution, with code and with infrastructure. It’s a long haul to get there, so start with where you are familiar if that is the AZ-103.

Congrats on the 3k subs! But man, this video got me into the dilemma again! I'm currently a CCNA, and I work as a Junior Network Engineer (My plan is to get my CCIE by 2022 because ..I can) HOWEVER, since I'm an absolute nerd, I wanted to learn the server side of things before I move on to CCNP. And I liked to get my MCSA server 16 because I know there's a whole lot of good/rich information there! So now..I'm actually at the beginning of my MCSA studies, I know I can pass it before June 30, but do you think it will worth it? Especially for someone like me whose end goal is to become a network engineer? Or you think I should leave MCSA and jump on Azure?
@DataKnox4 жыл бұрын
If you think you can pass by June 30, first of all wow! It took me a year to pass, but I do think it will be valuable for years to come

That's good us now, but future techies are not going to get this cert. BTW Microsoft change the june 30 to jan 31 2021 to get MCSA/MCSE. First I think MS is doing a disservice here on getting rid of MCSA, I talked to my boss and he wants with MS coming out with future versions of MS server like 2019 and beyond how when we hire a new sysadmin or network admin/engineer know that person can administer MS servers? if MS wants is for all companies to get rid of there servers and put there eggs in azure or amazon aws, I think they are smoking LSD. Many are hesitant for and all of you know in a cybersecurity perspective. What happens if someone hacks and brings down these cloud services or breaks in steal all sorts of company private data? what then. I know what MS is up to, this is now going back over 20 years when during the reign of bill gates he wanted to charging for all retail and corporate users of MS windows and office but that idea got torpedoed because of the fast rise Linux. But I now I see a big push of MS to get companies to get rid of there on premise hardware and go cloud. I do not trust having someone else managing all my data and I have no control, another last big point not mentioned in getting rid of MCSA is that SQL Server had its own MCSA, now how does that fit into azure, I do not see to much sql server there, how is a SQL Server dba prove to a prespective employer that they administer and handle future versions of SQL SERVER? I think its time to thinking about certs related to Linux and MySQL/MariaDB certifications because I see nothing here but a disaster and mock words one day MS will bring back the mcsa/mcse.

Hi there, what are the difference between MS-900 and AZ 900? Both are gearing towards the cloud and different application. MS-900 seems to have less resource s to start as well.
@DataKnox4 жыл бұрын
Good question! MS-900 is all about Microsoft 365 fundamentals, an amazing cloud based suite for office productivity, some desktop and endpoint management, and some Azure AD. Very different from Azure which is all about infrastructure and application hosting

@DataKnox4 жыл бұрын
It depends entirely on your goals and your job. I would love to say Azure adds diversity to your skill set, but if your current job or area isn’t hiring for Azure, that could be a huge waste of time.
@michaelmyers44844 жыл бұрын
Role based isn’t bad per se, but why is there no „on premise“ role anymore in Microsoft’s certification scheme? All employers that I currently want to apply to still all use on-premise Windows Server 2016 or 2019, not a single one is using Azure-only approaches. Azure as an additional option, yes, but not a single one employs cloud-only solutions. If I apply to them with an Azure cert, they’ll ask me what I’m going to to in that Windows Server VM I’m firing up INSIDE Azure. Am I missing all the cloud-hype?
@whlow91724 жыл бұрын
You've a point. Employers still prefer on-premise system/networking infrastructure which can be physically seen/touched. It might be difficult for the employers to understand & accept cloud computing concept.
@michaelmyers44844 жыл бұрын
@@whlow9172 also, as far as I know, research facilities (like at universities, etc) who handle patient data (genome data, etc) or confidential data (product development data, patent data, etc) might not even be legally allowed to store that data in the cloud. At least at our research facility working with patient data, it is strictly prohibited to put any of that stuff in any kind of off-premise storage. Neither at home or in the cloud.
@DataKnox4 жыл бұрын
Yep, most orgs have a hybrid approach, with developers leaning more towards micrsoservices and serverless options of the cloud. I, too, am shocked by this move and really hope they bring Windows Server back into exams. As an employer, I will still be looking for Windows Server skills on my applications
@DataKnox4 жыл бұрын
It’s a slow change, but one that is worth doing to an extent. There will probably be on-premise resources for years to come but definitely shifting more to the cloud
@ahrisho4 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmyers4484 most cloud service providers have the capability to go into a BAA with a covered entity and provide a platform to store patient data. You are limited on the services you can use and what region the data can be stored in, but As long as you are handling the data properly including access to the data there shouldn't be an issue.

Well, they are retiring the MCSA in June, so shifting to something like Azure Fundamentals or Office 365 Fundamentals would be the move. BUT, employers will still want to see Windows Server skills for several more years, so you can continue studying it and put it on your resume
