Hi Anna! I really enjoyed you sharing your Azure haul with us. I've been shopping Azure for 10+ years and they are a wonderful company to support. I would LOVE to see a video on how you prepare and store your goods for long term, especially the grains... Also, if you have less difficulty ingesting resistant starch, and if you or others are unaware, if you refrigerate your cooked white beans before eating them, they become a resistant starch. Same with potatoes... I came across resistant starch information while on GAPS. Pretty interesting and worth the research. I'm really enjoying your videos. Thanks again!
@FermentedHomestead2 жыл бұрын
We did just make a video on storing these grains but I’m not sure when it will hit the editing floor. I just started hearing about resistant starches and I was actually curious if you know whether the starches stay resistant starches if you reheat them? I’ve been mostly keto/low carb but I’m trying to learn the more balanced way when I’m ready for it. I will defiantly be sharing how I’m using them when I do!
@loritrotter63542 жыл бұрын
@@FermentedHomestead Yay! Looking forward to the upcoming video! I try and freeze my grains for 2 weeks and then store them. Currently my freezer real estate is a bit low and food grade buckets have been difficult to get... So, I'm curious if you have run into the same situation and how you work around that. You have a lot of big bags to deal with!! As far as the resistant starch, yes, you can reheat once they (cooked white beans, cooked potatoes and if I remember correctly, cooked lentils) have been refrigerated without reversing the process back to it's original form. I used to use 1/4 C cooked/cooled navies in my kefir smoothie and did not notice anything offensive in doing so. It was a bit thicker, though. Speaking of kefir - I saw in one of your videos that you were thinking of giving milk kefir a shot. I've been making it daily for 3+ years and have dried grains to share if you are interested. Just let me know... I got mine from Cultures for Health and I can recommend them highly. Thanks again, Anna!

@happydays13362 жыл бұрын
Soft wheat is not good for yeast breads because it has less gluten than hard wheat does. 100% hard wheat flour still doesn't have as much gluten as white flour does. Because of this I add a tablespoon or so of powdered gluten to my whole wheat bread when I make it. Soft white is for pastries and cakes, etc.

@pennydyer97192 жыл бұрын
Because grains last for so long you should have been buying a little all along so as not to put a strain on the current inventory. But now because you & others know there is a grain shortage your buying astronomical amounts & your haul looks like panic buying & hoarding which makes less available to others. Ugh!
@FermentedHomestead2 жыл бұрын
When I am doing a haul I don’t tend to go over what we already have because it’s just focused on what was just purchased. However, I did reference in the video that we were refreshing our pantry, meaning we already do purchase these items. You’re welcome to check out my azure haul playlist if you’re curious. Your finger pointing at individual people trying to prepare for what is obviously coming soon is in the wrong direction, we are simply trying to take care of ourselves and our families. Instead try using your voice to shine the light on the last 2+ years of governments around the world systematically shutting down the supply chain, destroying crops and euthanizing animals in what any rational person would describe as intentional destruction and centralization of the food supply. I choose to teach people the importance of being prepared, how to prepare and how to use those prepared items in their everyday life, if you don’t understand the importance of that I hope you do your research. Have a blessed day 💜
@pennydyer97192 жыл бұрын
@@FermentedHomestead I absolutely understand the importance of that. This is not new. People have been preparing for years....You should have been buying grains in these amounts for years now since their shelf life is 30 years. But now you have decided to stock up on grains, due to the shortages, at a time when more people are trying to prepare for their families. If you have to buy that many grains at this time it tells me that you are completely unprepared. And if you are prepared & have a good supply on hand then that tells me that you are hoarding & are adding to the man made crisis. Azure is having challenges keeping items in stock because of this. You might consider watching some prepping videos to understand what it means to be prepared so as not to find yourself in a position of having to buy so many grains at one time when there is already a strain on the system. Alaska Prepper is a good one. God bless 🙏🏻

@@pennydyer9719 I'm having a loss in understanding what your point is. Are you upset because your order didn't come in? Do you have a need to get into (and tear down) their purchases? Are you saying you're so much smarter for implying that you've been prepared already? (yay!) I just discovered I have to dump a lot of my canned food storage because of expiration dates - for some I go an extra year. When you get a bunch of food from drug reps that bring in food and it goes uneaten, we feed our family off that on many nights, and thus our food storage doesn't get rotated/eaten as we planned. The point is... you don't know what her purpose for buying so much is. So what if it's for panic buying? What is the other option, honestly? "Oh, sorry hun. you shoulda been putting food aside for the last several years, and so you deserve to starve?" I think you should listen to yourself sometime, and be more supportive. Or just not say anything at all. I expect if the SHTF, I'm probably going to be either feeding a number of other people as well by choice... or it gets stolen by hungry people who didn't think ahead. May you have the earlier choice, and not be confronted by the latter option.
