I was always taught to NOT put the bones or meat in a compost pile which brings critters of the unwanted type. I've also read that citrus fruit does not go in a compost pile. Maybe I've read wrong books. Happy 2024.

I buy the Mary's chicken from Azure, cook in Instant Pot and it is delicious!

That is how we cook it too. I will be purchasing this chicken again next month. It was delicious!

Sorry about the cheese. We got the corn too and are going to have it this weekend. 🌽 I will be trying your Dutch oven recipe for carmel popcorn. 🍿
@FreedomHomesteaders Жыл бұрын
We had some of the corn last night. I froze some of it as well. (You have to blanch it and then put it in an ice bath before freezing). Hope you like the caramel popcorn as much as we do!

I think those are Yams…. Sweet potatoes are yellow/tan color. 💕🌷

Thanks for the info. We have always called them sweet potatoes. But it does say "Yams" on the package, so I think you are correct!

Wow, that's alot of stuff! How much did it come to may I ask?
@FreedomHomesteaders Жыл бұрын
Hi Mr. Lightning. It came to about $725. That will be our food for the month plus about $400 for things I purchase from Costco and Whole foods. We are saving $1300 a month by using Azure to feed our family.

I love Azure! Why don't you order the larger size coconut oil? I like to get the gallon size. If you're buying the case of 32 oz jars, it's almost $80. The same volume (3 one gallon jars) could be costing you only $50. You're probably paying more to ship the case of glass jars as well.
@FreedomHomesteaders Жыл бұрын
I know its much cheaper. And I've considered it. But I just cant get past the plastic. I wish they had it in a large glass jar.
@friendlymomma Жыл бұрын
What's wrong with plastic? I myself am so sick of broken glass in my house and yard.
@friendlymomma Жыл бұрын
Recently they sent me a survey with questions regarding transitioning items from plastic to glass. I personally prefer plastic packaging in most cases, (seriously, so much glass breaking here lately!) but it sounds like you may have more options in the future. :)

@@friendlymommaa lot of people don’t have that problem. We rarely ever broke glasses in our house growing up. I don’t know, we were just trained to take extra care when dealing with glass and it just became second nature. My mother started letting us use glasses since really young to learn how to deal with glass and we never had to buy plastic cutlery, cups, plates because we worry about them breaking.

Cool. I also keep wondering what you all DO with all those jars! I myself am swimming in jars (that's partly why they are getting broken...because we have so many that I don't have room for them all). If this vlogger is going through THAT many nice jars per month, she has to be swimming in jars too. Unless she has found a place to recycle glass???? My town doesn't have recycling. And even if they did, I wouldn't trust that the things I put in recycling bins were actually getting recycled.

@@FreedomHomesteaders agreed. I've been battling alot of serious health issues the past 12 years, thx to my employer..and I'm living on food stamps and medicaid. I hate it. But I'm trying to just survive..and finding healthy ingredients is hard. And on top of everything I have alot of true food allergies and sensitivities. Makes it difficult..

what is azure
@FreedomHomesteaders Жыл бұрын
Azure Standard is a bulk organic grocery store. They work by making drops in some areas across the US. Shopping with Azure is saving me about $1300 a month in groceries. Click the Azure link to find out if they have a drop in your area. www.azurestandard.com/?a_aid=d6099cbdb9

You paid 174.00 for 20lbs of chicken??? What??
@FreedomHomesteaders Жыл бұрын
Yes. Comes out to about $8 a pound. I realize this might be a bit much, but the chicken in my grocery store does not seem as fresh. I am saving so much with Azure that I do not mind spending the $8 for a really nice bird that was pasture raised and treated humanely

Thanks for letting me know. I actually wasn't chewing gum. I couldn't resist snacking on the dried mangoes. 😂 I didn't think anyone could hear it!
