Another thing that played on the Elite's downfall is the fixed oil caps for stages. Before that, you had an incentive to use elites to save oil in the long run, but after that change there's not much incentive to use them 😢 That's why the thing that I always suggest on the surveys is either a rarity locked mode (like, main stages but with SSRs and URs blocked) or to add a rarity requirement to hard event stages. There are probably other ways to promote furtger usage (achievements, excercise mode restrictions, etc), so I hope they do something about it at some point 😢

This is a very good point. Oil caps no longer gave the incentives to use Elite and Rare ships as a whole.

True to that I mean, most players will farm Worlds 9 and above with SSRs and URs anyway. Better yet it might be better if the oil cap mechanics be limited only to main events.

The sad reality of Azur Lane is that we will never get new Common Ships or Uncomming ships. Which was the last one? Harsley Powel or Casablanca? I just forgot.

The beauty of this game is that there's always content where lower rarities are useful. Gray and blue ships are my personal go-tos for the A and B levels in events. And Cassin/Downes are to this day in my top 10 overall.

@@SpyralHax I still use my min limit break Uni+Fletchers fleet to clear the mobs from my A and B every event. 12 Oil a pop to clear content reminds me of when I was still clearing up to world 4 and grinding for Akagi and Kaga.

From what I remembered, Casablanca and Marblehead were the last of their rarity to be included in AL's main events. As for the very last overall blue-rarity ship, it was Oite who was the log-in reward of April 2021.

@@Pluveus Sounds like a good setup to me. Personally I go for a blue BB and 3 DDs (atm it's Repulse, Hatakaze, Kimberly and then Kimberly META as the "tank"). Does the trick at ~14 oil per battle.

I mention on every survey it would be cool if stages had a new challenge mode which locks team builds to certain oil caps or rarities. The devs put in a lot of work making elite ships every event, would love to see them applied to gameplay. i think it would net them more money as well because more people would buy skins and oath them if they actually had use. also we would actually be hyped for elite ships, imagine that

You forgot about Hammann 2. She provides crazy utility for the musashi/aquila/unicorn mobbing combo in chapter 15. Her skill renders musashi unkillable, provides high AA, carries the ASW, and assists your cv's on top of that (in exchange for being mega squishy+no surface dps).

personally, i like Long Island. especially with her Retrofit... one time she got Quick Take Off Proc like 7 in row or 8 Airstrike Back to back just by her also with enterprise Lucky E... kinda funny to see it happen on 9-4 XD

Techically you can put most elite xp buffers in at least decent. Amazon prime is a decent AA and ASW boat, Houshou gets a barrage and main fleet heal after her augment, heck even Argus gives carriers a minor zombie heal but does not have a garunteed barrage

Usually i use the elite ships because of their design. I use them until they lvl 120 & max skill level and went all in on their weapons mostly use the weapon from the faction the ship came from and looking at their equipment at the art to keep them almost historical accurate. My favorite Elite Ships: Sheffield, Argus, Acasta (Refit), Fleuret, Epee, Suzunami, Sevastopol, Devonshire, Stephen Potter, and Sheffield META.

An Elite Sub that I really like is U-522, who allows you to call your submarine fleet even outside of their range (though only once per sortie). I also like Newcastle Retrofit as a support for the vanguard, especially in HMS fleets. Deutschland and Graf Spee also deserve to be mentioned purely for waifu reasons :D. My top 2 most used Elites though are definitely Leipzig Retrofit and Portland Retrofit. They're surprisingly tanky and cheaper to deploy for when I'm running low on oil from grinding event stages.

It's really a shame now that Elite ships are the new normal / grey ships and the actual rare / blue ships and below are pretty much gone extinct; Heck, for a 100% ships collection player like me even most SR ships aren't even worth of consideration anymore... and some ultra rare ships have already been sent to the "Inactive" docks as there's enough ultra rare ships now to cover everything....

I like Nachi , she is a rare and then turn into elite after retrofit , she have adequate defense skill and universal buff to cruiser of all type from all faction . To this day i still use her .

After so many datamines throughout the years and seeing how Elites have become in recent years compared to 2018/2019, makes me curious on how far can you go through the story with only Elite ships (no SSR and UR ships). My guess chapter 12 and maybe chapter 13 but I will have to test which are the best in synergy. Excellent video btw 👌

I'm so glad you liked it, given it was your video idea and all... Azur Lane game content difficultly hasn't scaled that much (not nearly as much as the ship power creep). So if we are talking about the main story (not something like EX Modes) then ya Elites should be able to get you pretty far.

All depends on the ships, if you want to use Eagle Union ships, using Elite or Lower in chapter 13 is easy, heck...I've cleared 13-4 with Blue ships

I would love to have new content limited by rarity or/and faction. I could be a good way to use all the ships. Personally, I love to try many faction fleet and thinking about their synergy. I do it to level them to 120, but if it was for a real good purpose, that would be great.
