Nice video. Hopefully those stickers that hipsters are sticking on every 395 guardrail and roadsign stay in California. Disgusting.

My wife and I did northbound from Orange County to Tahoe. It was on the 4th weekend and it was bloody hot all over, but still a great drive. Play a lot of old Peter Green Fleetwood Mac 167-1970 and sit back. Tioga pass is only open in the summer.

Another great video, hey highway 108 is real nice too and 88 shoot there all really nice 😂 funny there is something real familiar about you Peter feel like we’ve met before. Hey would a KTM 250XCW fit inside a Revel? Really want an adventure van to camp out of. Anderson’s Adventures 42

You wouldn’t be able to let the bed down

It's true, You can't really go wrong anywhere on the East Side to Nevada. Maybe we have met, I've ridden dirt bikes my whole life. You could fit a single bike in backwards. But like James said the bed would need to be sucked up to the ceiling. This would be fine once you got to your destination and could unload the bike. But you wouldn't be able to sleep with the bike inside. I use a hitch bike carrier to haul my bike with my Revel. Then I have full access to the van. Hope we cross paths on 2 or 4 wheels someday. All the best!

Man, next time you go up 395, I suggest to go up to Bridgeport. The green Meadow in Bridgeport is really beautiful too! You go to Twin Lakes there, really a beautiful drive too.

Thanks for the video. I love the eastern Sierras. I spent many a summer vacation there camping. hiking and fishing. I was there once when it snowed. Hubby and I camped up in the BLM campground above Crowley lake and went fishing. I haven't heard of the Buttermilk area. I have a 24ft MH and tow a car can I get up there?
@Famagogo
@Famagogo 9 ай бұрын
Thanks! I'd recommend a recon trip in your car to see what you think about getting your MH up there. The further you go the rougher it gets. The better camp spots are on the further side of things. But there are other great spots in the area with easy MH access.

Great advice to turn off 395 at Lone Pine and head to Death Valley-as much as I love the desert, 395 gets far less interesting very quickly. If your trip takes you towards SoCal, there are a few things worth stopping for if you are heading that way, but nothing worth going out of your way for…Fossil Falls, Randsburg, and if you turn towards LA on the 14, Red Rock Canyon State Park are in this category.

Probably best place in America to go in summer if you like camping. Roaming. It is way busier now. Way Tham even 13 years ago. KZbin revolution. Worst place to have vehicle break down. Even parts take day or three. NAPA Mammoth. Lee Vining shop is worthless. To busy. Be prepared. Have extra $1000 dollars if you can.

I very much enjoyed your video. Your editing is excellent. We also frequent the Eastern Sierra from Bishop to Walker, being from Central California. Just a grammar tip. It’s incorrect to say “Sierras” as Sierra is already plural. It’s the equivalent of saying mices or geeses. The proper way to refer to the range of lights is to just say Sierra. It took me a long time to get comfortable saying Sierra myself once I learned this fact.
@Famagogo

Thats funny I actually knew that. I'll have to see where I slipped up. Thanks for that and you are totally correct!

Ahhh! Stop giving away the secrets! You'll ruin these places for likes and subs 🤦🏼‍♀️
@santiagohills3997
@santiagohills3997 9 ай бұрын
None of these places are secret, they’ve been in every guide book for 100 years. The fact that modern media is more compelling than old mimeographed guidebooks does make a difference, as does the proliferation of reliable cars and gas money. But let’s not pretend we can just hide these places, we now need to proactively preserve them. Young people have more money and better cars than we did. America’s wide open spaces are a great place for our college age kids to fall in love with their country. Let them go see it-teach them how to see it without hogging the view for the Instagram, but get them out there.

Thanks for your sentiment. It is appreciated. I do keep the sensitive spots unidentified. But like @santiagohills3997 said very well, These are very well-known places and aren't any type of a secret. The East Side has loads of spots that won't be featured in my videos. But anyone who has read a magazine, guidebook, or state tourism brochure in the last 30-100 years knows about these spots. I'm trying to share places people will fall in love with and, in the process, teach them how to take care of and protect these areas and be responsible stewards of our public lands. But mostly, if these areas are loved by many, they will get better protection from politicians and the general public, unlike a place no one knows or cares about. But thanks for this comment because it shows that you care, too.

Beautiful area. I used to live in Central Cal. And would travel through Yosemite to Mammoth for work a few times a year. I would always take a few days off each trip and kick around that area and do some photography. If you’ve never been, you just don’t understand the beauty. I even did some very long day trips with my girls just to go eat at Tioga Toomey’s at the Mobil gas station. You do a great job showing the beauty of the area. Hope to get back there someday…

Hey Kevin, Thats great, I would do the same thing. I always try to savor this drive, and I never get enough time. It's a photographer's paradise. I wanted to feature The Mobile in this video but they had closed for the season. It has to have the best gas station food anywhere in the world. Thanks for watching!
