One of the most underrated bands in history, their music simply is... MAGIC.

The song "Jazz Carnival" has been the opening theme of a very famous tv show ("Mixer") for a very long time here in Italy. Fortunately we came across the music of the band for that reason.

Came upon this by accident and the thought struck me that Jazz Carnival is almost 40 yes, 40 years old ! and it rocks every note today like it did back in '79 !!!

I discovered AZYMUTH back in 1984 by their first track Partido Alto. I later purchased five of their albums. Amazing trio. R.I.P. Bertrami.

I love Partido Alto so much... I also have a vivid memory of in 2012 when I was of LSD on Santa Monica beach, dancing to “Jazz Carnival” whilst the sun was setting. It was one of those moments of “wow… I could die at this moment from utmost joy & contentment.” I am forever grateful for your music and rest in peace Ivan “Mamao” Conti.

My husband go crazy for Azimuth since long time, and i too. He's got many original LP of that unique band. We want to transmit the culture of the good music to our sons, instead of the poor and vulgar music of the last decades. They like Azimuth too!

The recording and the mixing of this recording it’s so great. I love the how well the heavy reverb on some of the percussion blends with the dryness of the Rhodes, synth, and bass on some of the tracks

Love this stuff. Some of these tracks are like something out of one of those strange dreams that you cant quite remember, but when you find that right "thread" in your memory it pulls you along for the ride. I remember finding this album in a basement record shop several years back and somehow managed to score it for like 2 bucks. Hope whoever swiped it from me enjoys it as much as I do.

A great discovery just a week ago when a fellow was on a Swing Out Sister blog and mentioned Azymuth and I though I'll look into them. So glad I did. So refreshing to be reminded of the late 60s early 70s jazz revival via Brazil and Tom Jobim Astrud and Flora and their collaborators .

So good to hear this again. I still have Light as a Feather on vinyl bought in 1980. Doesn't get played a lot these days due to various circumstances. I loved Azymuth, there were echoes of Weather Report in their music but they had their own unique energetic style which was awesome. And I just love the slap bass that dominated the contemporary music scene in the 80s and 90s. Many many thanks indeed for helping start my day on a brilliant note!

Talvez a nossa maior riqueza seja a nossa música e a nossa cultura!

If someone you meet says they like 70's fusion but only can name Weather Report, Mahavishnu, and maybe 1 or 2 others ... be a friend if they have an open ear to the 90% of great fusion records from many other countries they have yet to discover. I only found these guys because I am a crate digging insane person obsessed with all things I've never heard. Otherwise, word of mouth from those willing to share. Lot of great stuff. Just drop the needle or press play. Its not the old way. Its THE way. Surprise a friend. Surprise yourself. ❤
