I remember building this onewhen i was 10. Such a marvellous model. I could imagine myself being small enough to be sitting in the cockpit and walking throught the other rooms of the plane. I remember it came with a panflet that featured Shep's memphis belle or something along those lines, the most amazing diorama of a crashed bomber i've ever seen.

50 years ago Monogram kits were a special treat for me. I loved the WWII US Navy aircraft...Corsair, Avenger, Hellcat and Helldiver and what have you. Happy days :-)

In 2015 Revell has reissued the kingfisher and the hellcat and more recently the corsair and the dauntless .

The diorama pamphlet from Shep Paine came with the kit. I've built this monster several times over the years and the early ones came with the book. Sadly I don't think they do anymore. It's been about 14 years since I built my last B-17 and I don't remember seeing the book last time.

Yeah its a shame because the book was awesome. I seen it in a kit that a mate had build some years ago.

good job m8, nice vid. the old monogram model shows clearly the disputed flat spot in front of the canopy glass at bulkhead 3. something not always featured on other models. In addition, i have found generally that the rivet detail can be fairly extensive on many of the older kits. ( older can sometimes, still be good value for money). BTW. from time to time, they do come up on ebay, for reasonable money. In fact i saw some just this weekend from the states. finishing soon i believe.

Thanks mate. I have seen some of these come up on ebay myself in the past but have stopped looking for some time. I am looking forward to adding some fine rivet detail to this beautiful bird when i build it as this will really bring her to life i think.

Never seen the tacky decals before.unless its from something they use during the printing process and its started to react with hot conditions being an old set.

i was thinking the same. May be some chemical reacting to heat and humidity here in North QLD. Ah well i can always but aftermarket sets if they are stuffed.

Great looking kit.Monogram holds special memories for me and look forward to seeing this built.detail is stunning despite it's age and it holds up against newer kits in interior detail.
