Hi Dave, we haven't been in touch for a while. I remember you were one of the first people I had contact with since I came to live here many years ago. I hope you are well and still playing drums. Have a very prosperous 2025. Guillermo.

"¡No somos nada Maestro!".

whilst you don't publish very often, which is quite understanding given the nature of your work, the results you share are quite simply breathtaking in the quality of engineering and workmanship that goes into these models, quite franky hard to determine that they are not real. I can imagine that the research, drawings and tooling supporting these projects is a heavy investment in the overally time too. Thanks again for sharing these wonderful creations, they are beyond museum pieces in my opinion.
@rojasbazan19 күн бұрын
Thanks Andy. Yes, serious and professional research takes a lot of time and for me it is worth 50% of the model. As for the drawings, I make my own final plans, based on a compilation of the best available and comparing them with all the period photographs I can get my hands on. And as for the tooling, I only use simple hand tools. The rest is a lot of patience, practice, perseverance and trial and error. Most of these results are not achieved through technology.

You are probably the greatest Scale Model builder in the world. Even more talented than the legendary Shepard Paine. Thank you for putting this on KZbin.
@rojasbazan13 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment sir. Paine was involved in plastic modeling and was sponsored for years by Monogram. Of course he was brilliant at diorama art and figure painting, but my field is different. The people I admire in modeling are mostly naval modelers who worked completely from scratch and had a background in naval architecture like Norman Ough and more recently Philip Reed.

Each part is a work of art. It is a shame that they are put inside of the model where they are hard to see.

Thank you, sir. Yes, but through videos and photos, hundreds of thousands of people can see those details.

I am dumbfounded and Thunderstruck I'm so humble to be in the presence of a Master model builder!!! And I have an idea of amount of time and devotion it takes to create a masterpiece like this as I just spent the last four years of my life building my first cutaway large-scale model of a World War 1 Newport 28 fighter I'm actually going to send you pictures of it when it's done it's nearly complete to your email... greatly looking forward to your tutorial videos so that I may sit and learn at the feet of a model building Master❤❤❤❤❤

What can you say after that? To know this man has fabricated every part to 1:20 scale and that nothing existed in this model before he created it is just mind blowing, given the result. Sometimes, when I look at Rojas' models, I think he should only half paint them so people might appreciate the genius of his craftsmanship but they are commissions. Just incredible artistry and craftsmanship. I am awed.
@rojasbazan19 күн бұрын
It is true, when I paint models, in most cases it is at the request of the client, who is the one who pays for the construction. Thank you for the comment, sir.
Traduction: I am very impressed by your passion for model making. When I am making an airplane model and it doesn't go well and I get stuck and I feel like I'm losing motivation, I watch your videos to motivate me. Thank you as always. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, sir. Modeling is basically a hobby and it has to be that, an activity that gives us pleasure and spiritual serenity. If something goes wrong, fix it if you can. And if not, leave it as it is because it is something absolutely personal that is not going to change the rules of the universe. It cannot be that a modeler has to buy two kits to build just one, or spend so much money to buy multiple accessories, or own a 3D printer, or a laser cutting machine, or the best airbrush or any other device for his "modeling arsenal". That will not make him a better modeler. I was lucky to dedicate myself to this professionally because I followed another path, although it was difficult because I always had to work under pressure. All the best, Guillermo.

Really from another planet. I cannot imagine how many hours in this… Small question: what is the thickness that you use for your sheets?❤❤❤❤
@rojasbazan19 күн бұрын
Thank you, sir. This model took me three years. I use up to four different gauges of aluminum sheet as long as they can be cut with scissors by hand (with this I'm telling you everything). I will soon pass on all this information in detail in my tutorials.

Definitely worth a HD upload. Clearly this is rarefied atmosphere grade professional scale model making. I’d love to know how long it took to build Witchcraft? Incredible masterpiece! How did you end up doing it on this scale? 1/24 is more common, at least in plastic models.
@rojasbazan18 күн бұрын
Many museums and discriminating collectors prefer models in non-conventional scales to differentiate them from plastic kits and to certify that they are built by craftsmen capable of making unique works. In this case, once again, the scale was chosen by the people who commissioned the model. Most of the models shown on this channel have been built in 1:40 and 1:15 scales, certifying that there are no commercial kits involved in the construction. Thanks for watching.
