That's why they were messed up. When Brooke his virginal fiancee came and lived with him (they didn't sleep together immediately under the roof. He slept on a couch and he let her have the bed) and he told her he would protect her from his mom and started off doing that but then stopped doing it after Caroline got involved and his mother continued to pester him. Ridge was originally good to her and treated her like a friend when they first moved in together before they slept with each other. He would hug her and it wasn't always kissing. It was more kissing before he asked her to move in but once she moved in and she told him she'd never been with a man before like that then he wasn't as amorous but acted more like a friend to her and confidant. Caroline and his nasty mother should have left their relationship alone.

@treg1980 if he attended to make it about Ridge and Brooke, he must have changed his mind as time went by because he made Taylor the love of his life and I heard he said that Ridge and Taylor had a very strong love that even Brooke can't break, but any way what he did with Ridge and Taylor in the mid 1990s and early 2000s wasn't a rewrite , it was a development, it was Ridge going from loving Brooke to loving Taylor but the this right here isn't the case, it's not a development, it's a contradiction.. if they had set the tone that having had time to except Taylor's death and have a happy long marriage with Brooke he fell for her so much that now he prefers her over Taylor, it still would have sucked but at least it would've been logical and consistent to the past, that would have been a development but that's not what they said, they said that it had always been Brooke and he only married Taylor because of Stephanie's influence and that is simply not true and that's the difference between a development to a contradiction, it's not enough to plan and have a vision, you have to actually do it and you can't just change the history and undo things you did yourself just because you're the creator, if you wanna make changes and go the different directions that's fine but do it logically, change only your current lane, not lanes you've passed already
