@@LisaTurner-ht4ox It amazes me that in the Landlord vs The Little Guy situation, regular folks side with the Landlord. Incredible. Follow the rules and maybe this doesn't get thrown out. Sad state of affairs for you to be so cruel. They already got one tenant to leave and they upped her old units rent by 50% under the guise (lie) of hiring a caretaker. Give your head a shake.

@@kaze987 I am a small landlord. I have 2 tenants. There will always be people renting and landlords provide a service. Tell me why taxes/utilities can go up 15% in one year but I am only allowed to increase rent by 2%?

Also, no one questions about how BC assessment evaluates properties. Cities taxes landlords based on evaluations. Of course , cities want higher values so they can tax more.

Ugh. This story again. I'm glad the remaining tenant is not evicted. I'm sure the other tenant who voluntarily left believed "Plan A" already had a caretaker or were actively looking for one. Scummy landlord indeed. I myself have been evicted twice in two years. A corollary being the family use clause which was we've had to swallow and move on to yet another higher priced rental. To any renter out there do NOT make This company your plan A. It should be plan c or d after this coverage!

I don't think humanity could evolve to a Type 1 Civilization with all these crooked dynamics, it stifles creativity, technology development, gross national happiness...ensuring a basic standard of living would allow us to skip a bunch of hardship and help perpetuate all human cultures throughout eternity.

as somebody who wants to enter property management, I wish there was a way to make these investors pay. You CANNOT expect tenants to be paying for your entire mortgage. when you're investing in real estate, investments are long term, not for passive monthly income that these scumbag international investors are trying to do. Investors are breathing down their necks or they lose contract...This city is filled with people who have the wrong intentions.

This is the domino effects. High interest, high inflation, giving too much money average Canadian can afford to wars, also, more importantly property tax jumps at a difficult time for Canadians. Most media only talk about landlords who increase the rent. Landlords have a lot of pressure to deal, mortgage, high interest. It is the time to examine how BC assessment evaluates property values. Cities tax homeowners based on the BC assessment. Who shall blame

glad the landlord finally won one. Looks like he didn't have to pay 12 months rent to the tenant. Good job property management company on successfully getting rents up to market. These entitled tenants need a wake up call and should voluntarily raise their own rents

Wake up Media! This is the reality in every home here in BC. And we’re the one of victims like that strategy. Telling some reason legally but the truth was they need more increase base on what price in market. Hopefully the authorities pay attention bcoz this is common in any area in lower mainland

EBY’s GOVT has done so much for housing but what they really need is an end to RENOVICTIONS and maximizing rental incomes.

EBI needs to get his pointy nose out of the rental business and let the free market rents balance themselves. He is the problem and the result is stuff like this. Had the RTB allowed rents to be raised closer to market this gal would never have been evicted.

SO You’d loose the tenant either way. If you increase their rents above inflation like your asking, your tenant will get up and leave or go homeless. Most young Canadians are angry that landlords are finding any loophole to evict good tenants to raise rates to cover their end when THEY should plan ahead for market rate increases. The government passes the buck onto young people and now landlords who’s next? Might as well kick the kids or something since they can’t seem to magically find the money you ask. This GAL wouldn’t stick around long if she can’t AFFORD a place to live.

That's why rentals are always the problems, not the solution to housing. Landlords are greedy because that's why they become landlords. Tenants are lazy and don't care about the property because it's not their house and they are often poorly treated by their landlords.

If the laws allow it, and fools are willing to pay these insane prices....how can you fault the owner / landlord of maximizing profit? Why would anyone willingly leave money on the table and lose out on multiple thousands of dollars per month? I would on the flip side like to see an interview with the new renters willingly paying that much for such a small shoddy place?

It is because the landlord basicically evicted two tenants under false pretenses that is the issue. And a contract is a contract. They signed a contract at a monthly rate. Landlord should honour it. That is just business. Not the fault of the tenant for getting a good deal. Can't believe folks here are on the side of landlord versus the little guy tenant. Sickening

That's BS, they said that a caretaker was moving in and obviously got a Mutual Agreement to End Tenancy signed. The dumb tenants have no recourse now.@@kaze987
