It's incredible as to what very costly debacles and mistakes the Alberta PCs were allowed to get away with doing in Alberta, ever since Peter Lougheed was no longer the premier of Alberta. Since 1986, the Alberta PCs failed to properly top up the Heritage Savings Trust Fund, and were using it as their own personal piggy bank. The Alberta PCs lost Alberta $575 billion after they permanently altered Peter Lougheed's oil royalty rate structure. In the early 1990s, the Alberta PCs gave away Alberta's oil and most of the subsequent profits to foreign owned entities, leaving Alberta with crumbs. In the early 1990s, the Alberta PCs failed to properly come after oil companies in Alberta to remediate their messes, leaving Albertans with a mammoth bill of $260 billion to deal with this. The bad tax policies of the Alberta PCs lost Alberta $150 billion in added revenue. Since the early 1990s, the Alberta PCs did around $100 billion in many other very costly debacles and mistakes. Alpac, Novatel, metal smelting plants, pulp and paper mills, like Daishowa and Miller West Pulp, Swan Hills, trying to salvage a sinking shopping mall (West Edmonton Mall), on a failed farmer's aid fund, on a disability payment debacle, on consolidation of paramedic dispatch services in Alberta, the well over $30 billion electricity deregulation debacle in Alberta, the $10 billion Power Purchase Agreements debacle, on carbon sequestration, on luxury sky palaces, on pricey plane flights, which were full of empty seats, blew $35 billion on a bitumen upgrader debacle, a mega billion dollar lawsuit ploy against the tobacco companies, and so on. Since the early 1990s, the Alberta PCs failed to properly upkeep infrastructure in Alberta, which left Alberta with an infrastructure debt that is now nearly $30 billion, or even more. We still haven't recovered from Ralph Klein's senseless cuts to the public healthcare system, and the public education system in Alberta. There was nothing Conservative about the Alberta PCs at all, ever since Peter Lougheed was no longer the premier of Alberta.

What’s wrong with the pulp and paper industry? You think forest fires are bad now, imagine these forests not being cut to renew themselves and burning instead. Plus these industries all pay stumpage on the wood harvested. Saved small towns like peace river where I live by through providing good paying jobs and consistent, reliable employment. Better check your facts a little. The forest industry has done a lot for our economy. Not many industries of any sort in Canada get their start without some sort of public money. They pay their way back through taxes by employees and tax if they are profitable. They also use a bunch of services of other businesses to support their production.

@@chadtosh6831For a long time we haven't been interested in regenerative tree harvesting. It's better now, but it used to be way more extractive.

@@JonathanSicoli I’ve got a degree in forest management. The industry has come a long ways in the last 40 years. My wife is still involved at the mill. But the innovation in how the forest is planned and managed is amazing compared to when I quit 20 years ago. It was cutting edge there even then.

Will Danielle Smith complete a full term as premier of Alberta? The answer to that is no. It's because Danielle Smith angers constituents, contradicts herself, tells so many lies, flip flops, backtracks and does very costly debacles. Danielle Smith never lasted for very long as a public school trustee, as the Wildrose party leader, and as a radio talk show host, because of what she said and did wrong. Since Danielle Smith got less than 54% of the vote in the UCP leadership race, after 6 tries, it shows that support for her isn't that great.

Oh, TBA is counting on that! Since conservatism can't fail, and it can only be failed, Smith'll be left holding the bag, and some other provincial patsy will be shuffled in. That's what they did with Kenney (who's making bank on some oil board now).
