Thanks for providing an insight into the logic behind this. Seems like a good concept however it can be a PITA when you're navigating in shallow areas. Just off 3 weeks afloat with the Zeus S and left it running the whole time, Not sure if you're considering some user customisation options in order to dial the settings back further? I really liked the boxes highlighting potential collision hazards -we all know autopilots have a strong attraction towards navigation marks! But coming up a narrow/shallow channel the shallow warning was going off constantly and the highlighted zone was covering bottom contours. Even at anchor or stopped the alerts kept going off. Would seem a pity to switch the safety alerts off, but they got pretty annoying, plus can be distracting navigating with traffic in a shallow twisting channel.

Hello, I am glad you enjoy the feature. I agree with your feedback and there are some improvements coming in the next software update (1.7). It should make it less of a nag whilst using the chart app. There are also further improvements in the pipeline too.

Thanks for listening and replying :) Better response than online tech support! In case it helps, here's some further feedback. FYI cruising boat with no wind instruments, 3rd party autopilot, CZone and AIS. 1. iPhone synch hasn’t worked for me. 2. Czone integration not working (latest firmware on both systems, tried to push Czone Config via NMEA programming tool no joy, tried the add digital switching option on the Zeus but after loading Czone Config file to Zeus USB drive it still does nothing 3. Anti ground alarm PITA 4. Autorouting not bad but often throws unnecessary dogleg to finish, often adds unnecessary doglegs when straight legs are possible, editing autoroutes often cause weird and even dangerous variations on original calculated autoroute. Suggest highlighting autoroute total length easily would be a handy trip planning feature. When you touch the autoroute it gives distances to that point but it would be handy if the distance was always calculated from the boat -sometimes seems to be a leg distance 5. With non Navico autopilot appears to be no option to have steering screen or routing data overlay unlike the old NSS7 6. Old NSS had nice data page showing daily run and total logged miles -nice feature 7. Seems to be less control of tracks ie leaving selected older tracks visible. Also tracking files are too large to drop into Google Earth -had to use external software to reduce the number of points. My old NSS7 was easy to configure all of this and reduce Reviewing AIS targets is a little clunky -too many screen presses required. Hit target, hit popup box, then finally review AIS details. At least one screen press too many. Otherwise it has many great features and with software updates will turn into a great plotter. Bit of work to do but looking forward to the improvements!@@BGSailingHelp-ld5hx

Thanks for the video! You did not show it but I assume if you were zoomed out to 10 miles so that shallow area was not showing it would still alarm- correct?

Hi, if a chart object comes into the projected area infront of the vessel then the ZeusS will calculate if it is dangerous. E.g. for offshore, The CPA setting is scanning 30 boat lengths ahead, and the TCPA setting is scanning 10 minutes ahead (uses your current SOG). If it remains in this sector, when it gets within 5 minutes or 20 boat lengths it will raise a Warning, if it still remains in the sector and is within 2 minutes or 10 boat lengths it will raise an Audible Alert.

@@BGSailingHelp-ld5hx Thanks- I know that it scans ahead, but what I was wanting to confirm is that it does not matter how zoomed in/out you are for that feature to work. So for example, if you are in a large bay and it is set for 12 miles so a small rock is not shown on the screen it will still alarm that you are on course to collide with it- correct? That is how I hope it works since that is a very cool feature. Thanks!

@@en8581 Yes you are correct, it will scan the area infront of the vessel no matter what the zoom level is. It will also scan the chart if the user is on a different page, e.g. viewing radar. A pop up alert will appear if an obstruction is in the safety alert sector.
