The guy is perfect, expecially for hungarian ears. He doesn't use about Bartok's birthplace phrases such as "ancient romanian land" etc. He says "currently " in Romania (which is a reference to Trianon in 1920, the most brutal strike on Hungary in history). With his words he shows I think some respect for both nation. Is Bartok hungarian or romanian ? I think Macelaru makes quite clear references too about it, mentioning Bartok with Kodaly, and the funeral in Budapest etc. The Hungarian State Radio runs for decades a program called "Határok nélkül" (Without Borders). It is about the (hard) living circumstances of people of hungarian nationality in post Trianon countries. The intro music for the program is Bartok: Romanian Dances. Perfect choice.

Thanks for your insight, Cristian Măcelaru himself comes from Bucharest, Romania.

@@WDRKlassik Moment ... Macelaru says he was born in Banat ("This is where I was born"). He is native romanian, that's quite clear.

For me, Bartok is the second-greatest composer of all time (after Mozart, of course.)

Bartok was Hungarian. But this is not possibil problem. Music is international - Bartok is Hungarian.
