B movie theater- 90's Gamera trilogy

Couldn't agree more with your reviews, I love both the 90's Godzilla series & the Gamera series. The Gamera series is definately the superior series of the 2. The human characters are much more developed & the story lines just a bit less silly than most of big G's movie plots. Awesome movies that any fan of Kaiju movies needs to watch.

Good reviews. I grew up watching Gamera. My favorite monster movie would have to be "Godzilla vs The Smog Monster", or in Japan, "Godzilla vs Hedora".

Actually, though Godzilla is King, these movies, particularly the second one, were the greatest Kaiju movies made to date, better than the new Godzilla or Pacific Grove put together. Much better stories and cast, but also, top-notch FX. Yeah, it was suit-mation, but done absolutely convincingly; there's never a shot where something supposedly huge jiggles, the modelwork all looks absolutely like the real thing, nothing filmed that was beyond their abiity to make look good. They took great care to make every shot perfect. Even Gamera's head articulated (the major factor that, because of its absence, makes suit-mation monsters look fake). In fact, the worst FX were the few CGI shots..

I still think Godzilla would win in the end, Gamera would put up one hell of a fight. or Godzilla vs Legion.

How ironic is this? I hear the Gamera movies were NOTHING compared to the Godzilla movies but it seems they're getting a LOT better! Now all need is Godzilla V.S. Gamera!

Just finished the 1st one, I enjoyed it. I own all 28 of the Godzilla films. And I agree Gamera was up there with the best.
