Detailed and fascinating synopsis bringing many new Gwangi making facts. I saw new and it scared the living screaming daylights out of me. Surprisingly, the fire brought tears to my eyes.

This movie has a special place in my heart. I was about 7 when I saw it. We only had 3 channels and it seems like there was more to watch than 300 channels of cable. Anyway one channel always had an after school movie around 5 and one week it would be Eastwood ( The good, the bad, and the ugly and Josey Wales etc.) Some weeks was called a creature feature ! I loved those weeks. Anyway excuse my rambling back to Gwangi. It came on and the movie completely blew me away. At the time it was one of the best dinosaur movies I've ever seen. Forget " Cowboys and Aliens" this was a great movie. C.G.I. May be amazing but I admire the pioneers like Ray H. and realize how much work was put into this film. I think a good director should remake this film. I think it would be a hit. I would've loved to see tigers in the movie ! Anyway it's at the top of my favorites and I had never seen anything like that movie. I highly recommend it . Thanks for making this video.

One of my Favorite Movies. Gwangi was the Star of the film, As well as Ray Harryhausen's Special Effects, Which were Seamless in this one. The Sequence where the Cowboys Lasso Gwangi is Outstanding. The Finale where Gwangi Goes On A Rampage In A Church is Also Spectacular. The Valley of Gwangi Is A True Classic.

Ever since I first saw this as a child this has been my favourite ckassic dinosaur movie - introducing the dinosaurs to the Wild West was ingenious - that's what did it for me.

As films of this kind go, THE VALLEY OF GWANGI is an A-lister. At the time, and in some respects right now, this was the best of the best. JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (1963) possibly out does it, but not by a lot. Long live the memory of Ray Harryhausen!

Yeah I would have said it was a T-Rex myself, good review Waller.

I used to love the stop motion monsters eating people the legs gyrating and the screaming AAARRRRRGGGGHHH

Awesome review! Of course I love Ray Harryhausen’s stop-motion. but I also love this mix of amazing cast. Chalk it up to (like we see in today’s film) A producer or Director liking to work with certain actors. We have James Franciscus from planet of the apes, Richard Carlson from it came from outer space, Freda Jackson from Clash of the Titans, and Lawrence Naismith from Jason and the Argonauts. Dinosaurs and Cowboys. Who wouldn’t love this?

Takes me back to my childhood where I had some friends that had a driveway that went to their basement garage. The older Brother called it the Valley of Gwangi, because it was, in essence a valley. He'd hide near the top behind the bushes and jump on us screaming GWWWANGGEEEEEEEEE!

My main thing was that I would have wanted atleast 6 more dinosaurs weaved into the plot. It was actually a beautiful film. To this day I think Ray's technique rivals Jurrasic Park and similar films.

Despite that the movie's plot is very similar to The Lost World and King Kong, Gwangi is one of the better Dinosaur movies. The only thing I don't really like about it, is that a different voice actor spoke the lines for Gila Golan's character T.J. It's the classic cliche of a director feeling unsatisifed with an actor's voice AFTER THE AUDTIONS!
@queenglamazona87892 жыл бұрын
Not sure what Gila Golan's line deliveries would have been like in this film. The only other Movie I remember her from is Our Man Flint(where she was also dubbed.) Golan was very attractive, But she never really became very famous for her acting.

Fwwaller. Your the only person to review this movie and actually call Gwangi an Allosaurus. Everyone else thinks it's a Tyrannosaurus.
@christopherjordan62352 жыл бұрын
1:47 Glad you did not say Pterodactyl because Pteranodon is a more accurate name for the species Pterosaur on the other hand is a species name for a flying reptile and not a Dinosaur since Dinosaurs are more terrestrial

I KNEW Gwangi, wasn't a Tyrannosaurus, He's got 3 sets of claws Have you seen King King, Look at the dinosaurs Not a Tyrannosaures, But a Vastotosaures The Allosaures and the Vastotosaures are both members of the Rex Family Thats why Peoples mixed up. T-REX AS 2 sets of claws.

I'll have to be the lone dissenter here and say that, while I sat through it in it's entirety, I did so mostly for the laughs. While it didn't quite make my "10 worst Movies" list, thanks to some absolute drek like "The Core" and "Teenage Caveman" and "The Land That Time Forgot", it scored high on the implausibility meter and was redeemed only by the good (for its era) special effects. Why would this creature, capable of killing another dinosaur and an elephant, struggle with trying to escape from a lone horseman with a lasso, when he could have easily dragged them around like a chihuahua on a leash or made a snack of them? Why would he turn his attention to a puny human when he's got a whole pterodactyl to gnosh on? I almost fell out of my seat when James Franciscus empties his carbine into the beast, then THROWS it at him, as if to say, "HERE, TAKE THAT, YOU BRUTE" Hilarious! Every plot turn was too predictable. It was not a question of if, but when, the midget gypsy or Carlos would be eaten by the monster. Of course the elephant would battle the beast, why else was he there?

Now you know why I call this B movie theater. The characters are all one dimensional and the plot is outlandish, but that's the beauty of B movies, as long as they give you cool effects, and lots of male fanservice then you feel nice and satisfied after watching them. If they have entertained you on the most childish levels, than they have fulfilled their purpose.
