@LaMar Berry We've been doing this channel for a while now, and we are still getting conflicting reports as to what's rap & what's hip-hop. Many have been along with you about rap being the music and hip-hop the culture, but then we get from others that hip-hop is the genre and rap is the way lyrics are delivered. It's a bunch of subtle differences we have yet to find a conscious on.

When y’all were talking about the difference between Big Boi and Andre3000, I so wish I could have jumped into the conversation. Your ideas about these two very different artists is pretty correct. Their first album was a traditional Southern rap album of its area, although they already were standouts from their region. In their second album you began to see more of their differences. They have played off their differences throughout their career. They even had an album called Aquemini. It played off the fact one is an Aquarius and the other is a Gemini. They also were one of those groups who always did something different with their albums and videos.

They are from the same area. Their backgrounds aren't SO different, it's just that after the first album Andre underwent a period of let's say, "enlightenment". Before their first album Andre was a highschool drop out. Big Boi on the other hand graduated top of his class. Andre decided to finish his education and shortly after started dating Erykah Badu which seemed to inspire more of his eclectic sound and look. Instead of breaking up, they embraced their differences and it brought about some of the greatest music.

Poppy Kneegrow for real, everyone just rolls with “hey ya’s” sound but it’s (from my understanding) about the lack of authenticity in many relationships but since it’s easier to stay together than face the world alone, we do. Then André basically calls out the audience about missing the point by very clearly saying, “Y’all don’t want to hear me, you just want to dance.” There’s a reason I hold 3-stacks as the goat, and his clever lyricism and use of instrumental concepts is just one 👌👌

I am new here so I really like this change of pace. There are so many "Hip-Hop Enthusiasts" reacting to rock songs that it reached the point of ridiculousness. The King never looked at music in such a binary form- he saw it as an intentional and necessary way for cultures to clash. A "Right on!" to him and a "Right on!" to "Metalhead Reactions".

And no doubt, Andre is amazing. He's very unique and talented, but Big Boi holds his own too. If you really break down his lyrics you'll see he holds his own and gives Andre a run for his money on a lot of songs. The beauty of Outkast was/is the creativity and different energies coming together from Andre, Big Boi, and the Dungeon Family (this was their production team and also crew of rappers).
