Today I can bring you a Sound Test of my Beolab 28's and they're set at about 55% volume and they alternate between Optimal Narrow and Optimal Wide. No EQ is applied other than room compensation, which should make that sound universal in all rooms more or less.

Thanks for this, they sound great, certainly plenty of bass! Did you have the Loudness on? I tend to prefer Beolab 28 with bass at -2, treble at 0, loudness off in narrow mode but everyone is different

No, loudness is off and all EQ is off to show kind of what the ''natural'' state of them is. I personally feel that if I set them up the way I like them most, similar to how you like them, it's not the same as setting them up like they are out of the box. I intend to let them do their thing like B&O sends them out for YT videos and then revert back to how I like them later :p

this video sounds like bucket! I've heard better sounding 200euros samsung soundbar+sub combos. I believe these types of videos sre actually NOT doing the B&O company any favour in terms of brand image or sales. Video sounds AWFULL!! :)

Did I hear your cat adding some sound effects around the 3 minute mark 😁 The speakers Sound good, but agree with others about the heavy bass. Perhaps they are too close to the rear wall and the hard floors also causing reflections? Good video, you have some amazing kit!

Maybe a little, Room Compensation is run though, and everywhere I've heard them they have a big bass bump compared to other B&O speakers. When I set them to how I like them they are excellent and more in line with the rest. loudness off and bass -1 or -2 in an optimal setting is very good.

Nice video. I'm a bit confused about the sliding "doors". Do they have any impact of the sound? Some say the sound stages gets wider when closed, others say the opposite. And some even say that they have no effect at all. My take is that the sound stage gets wider when they're closed, but I'm not 100% sure.

They don't have a physical impact on sound per se, but the are an indication of what is going on. When they are fully open the speakers are in wide mode and all drivers are fully active and give the widest soundstage. When they are slightly open the speakers are in narrow mode and give you the most precise sound possible and some of the drivers are inactive for sound but are working full tilt on room compensation by counter firing to not have them create any standing waves and such. When they are closed the speaker is off. (this isn't my take, this is what happens by design.)

I have been wondering about why this has not been published on your channel as one of the first videos on BL28. I was excited to see it pop up and I put on my H95s for this one. However, I am not sure why the sound quality is not so good compared to for example your BS2 v Level sound quality comparison. Even if I download the video. It’s torturing me and I wish I knew what I am doing wrong :). In any case, I get the idea with the BL28, and I’m actually considering auditioning them in the weekend in person.

They are really bass heavy naturally out of the box, this is not how I have them set up personally but I thought it was unfair to show them off how I prefer them as everyone likes them different so I set the to the B&O standard settings. Also obviously to film them both the camera is a lot further away, the BS2/Level is filmed maybe 1 meter away where this is over 3.5 meter away so you hear a lot more of the room too. And I will happily acknowledge my room isn't the best still as I basically live in a concrete box, but I have tried very much making it better. If I take some of the bass out they sound much better and balanced to me, but B&O has them like this out of the box.

@@Mikipedia I see, well, one more reason to just do the audition in person then :). That’s the best way to do it anyway. Yes, I’ve read in another comment that you set them to defaults, and I didn’t think it was about that. I think it may be something about the placement of the mic relative to the distance between the speakers. I understand it’s a bit of a challenge to get it across. Still happy you have made it and shared, there are not so many similar videos around :). Thanks again!

If my opinion actually matters, which I'll make a full video about, it has way too much bass out of the box for a B&O speaker. They don't sound like 50's or 90's at all, or like 18's or 17's for that matter. They sound much more like a Balance. The 28's do sound somewhat better connected to a Harmony for some reason. I think the difference is the Mozart/streaming part ads some extra eq somewhere compared to the Harmony.

@@Mikipedia That’ll be very welcome! Yes, I agree from what I could tell that there is a lot of bass OOTB. I have spent a lot of time understanding the Balance in our home, and I have taken the bass down by as much as three steps, and at the same time upped the highs by 3. I usually like bass but with the Balance - in the acoustics of our dining room and living room - I found it more pleasant with less bass. Even so bass will be noticeable, more or less, depending on where I stand. I’m sure you can tune the hell out of the 28s so that you can find your sweetspot that brings the experience up to a whole new level.

Hello, I'm wondering if the Beolabs 28 sound that much better as (my) Beolabs 18? I'm considering to buy a set of Beolabs 28 to get more base instead of buying a Beolab 19 to add more base to my Beolabs 18, if a return my Beolabs 18 & Beosound Moment and pay an extra euro 9000,-- I'll have a set of Beolabs 28, what do you think, is it worth the money yes or no? Personally I ended up preferring the 18's with the 19 especially with a B&O TV. If you like using a phone the 28's will suit you very well.

Fairly similar, but the beolab moniker makes life with tv's a heck of a lot easier. So if you just want to use internal sources on the speakers them selves, for normal listening levels they are probably closer than you may expect.

Maybe it’s just me but i dont like wide mode on any B&O speaker. The speaker only really shows it capabilities & what you pay for when in narrow mode.

That's fair enough, I really think it depends on what you want to do with them and what you want out of them. The only person that needs to like it is you after all. I rather like the wide modes for lots of things like passive listening and movies and things like that.

@@Mikipedia I am considering to do some changes in the setup. Current setup is Beovision Eclipse, Beolab 20 as front speakers and Beolab 18 as rear speakers. I want to change the 20`s for some else. Could be Beolab 28 or the 18/19 combo. The setup is mostly used for movies and television. So any experience from you is appreciated😄

hmmm, not sure any of that is an upgrade for most films. The 18's all around will give a more consistent sound, but the 20's don't vary too much other than more bass. Are you looking for an upgrade or just something different? I love 28's, and I don't super like 20's, but I am not fully sure it's a big gain for the money differential. But I don't exactly know what you're trying to set out to do other than a change :p

for Beolab speakers the price on the website is for a pair/2 speakers, just fyi. otherwise I'd go with an A9.

Extremely bad recording. I wouldn't get these if someone gave it for free (based on this video alone). Luckily I have Heard these in real life and they sound great if tuned probably.
