This episode failed to mention that the O gauge layout with much of the original 1930's trains is still displayed in Cincinnati to this day every holiday season. The trains were made by B&O shop employees and are scale models of actual B&O equipment. The layout has been modified and Christmas-ed up, but that's where they got the color footage from.

Failed to mention the HO scale layout built in 1955 that was on the second floor of the Annex Building. It was unceremoniously dismantled in the early 2000's and thrown in a dumpster.

Most of all of "O" scale equipment was third rail. don't be confused with lionel or tin plate. this was "KING O SCALE" after the 40-50's most layouts likely removed the third rail and was strictly 2 rail. built to scale at 1/4 inch to the foot.

what are those pieces sticking out form the model trains? wouldn't those pieces cause the toy train to derail?

Power shoes, there's a small 3rd rail on the side of the track where the trains pick up power from

A certain completely unrelated company took over Cincinnati Gas & Electric a few years back and they pretend they're the ones that have presented this display in Cincinnati for 65 years. About 8 years ago they decided they couldn't be bothered to have it taking up their precious lobby any more and moved it to Cincinnati Union Terminal. Which would be a great location except for what used to be a free attraction now requires museum admission and $6 parking. I will not mention the name of the company. Moving it to CUT does allow for walkaround photography and I did a bunch of it in 2012 finally documenting much of the equipment and putting it on my web site. But the biggest insult is that the utility company claims it's been theirs all along, which is about as stupid as Union Pacific claiming to have always been Southern Pacific.
