I wonder if something similar can be built in Tokyo metropolitan area. I believe there is an opportunity. Seoul now also has the GTX semi-high speed commuter rail which they call a super subway, reaching speeds of 180kph. Because their existing subway is no longer enough and takes a longer time to commute. The closest thing Tokyo has is the Tsukuba Express which reaches 130kph, but it cant go beyond that because of its limited 1067mm gauge. The Keikyu Line meanwhile reaches 120kph but is limited by its many at-grade crossings. Commuting to Tokyo from the suburbs for hours using the JR lines and other private operators can be a pain. Although I understand the Shinkansen also functions as some kind of a commuter rail as well, with many commuters from Saitama, Utsunomiya, Takasaki, Kanagawa and Shizuoka taking the Shinkansen daily to Tokyo. There are even people from Yokohama taking the Shinkansen daily just to get to Tokyo even though it's just 10 minutes away. But if a similar system can be built in Tokyo, this will decongest the Shinkansen and thus the Shinkansen can now function solely as an intercity rail.

Japan used to be one of the advanced states in the world in technologies, who made Japan behind China?
Well bc it route uses AC25kV 50Hz, that means the tunnel must be wide enough, so since it is stramlined, u can evac via the normal passenger door, nothing to worry tho
