Craig Jones deserves unbelievable credit for what he has done for BJJ. I've been an mma fan since the Chuck/Randy/Tito days, but never taken an interest in BJJ outside of the Octagon. I was hooked both days of CJI, and I hope it sticks around for years to come. Great interview Luke, fantastic to have you back. Huge respect from Scotland 🫡

Craig giving himself a silver medal for beating Gabi is hilarious. It's a perfect dig at Gordon putting on his own gold medal matches 😂. It's a good move to free up Craig from the mats on B Team to get Dima to do the nuts and bolts.

This man is a breath of fresh air. Although I am certain this is not what he wanted for his bjj career at this point in his life, he sounds like he could be on the way to being the next superstar coach. The obvious fact that he recognizes the relative youth of bjj/submission grappling compared to other sports shows he is open to learn and grow, and that is a great place to start. And thank you Luke for having interviews like this. I don't know if these are the best received types of videos, but it is awesome to watch. You had clear concise questions that demonstrated both your knowledge of the material but also how to draw out the interesting things that this interesting man had to say. As a fan from the Bloody Elbow days who probably first heard you talk on either Josh Gross's or Jordan Breen's show, I thank you. Plus, the fact that you have ties to Marietta, even if you don't claim them proudly, is an extra bonus in my book.

The rule set and the setting made it completely enjoyable to watch. Except Levi's matches
@joeycanha13323 ай бұрын
Adcc pulled off a much better event as far as the production and organization side of things. if you’re there in person the merch at cji was completely fumbled, the matches took forever to get through especially the over 80 which was mostly duds aside from nickey rods matches and the time between matches was far to long it actually felt like they were padding for time. But the under 80 was amazing
@jackrackham93753 ай бұрын
@@joeycanha1332 I agree with all of your points. They need to figure out Day 1 and Merch I am sure was a mess. It was such a success for first event though. Victor Hugo getting a Tap in under 3 Minutes was a shock to brackets and allowed Nicky Rod to run through everyone. Under 80 was an all time Card.
@joeycanha13323 ай бұрын
@@jackrackham9375 yes everything I had an issue with would very likely be figured out for the next event if they do another. but overall for a first time planning something at this scale it was definitely a success but as far as the sentiment going around online that it blew adcc out of the water thats just plain wrong both shows were very good both had extremely deep talent pools and both had memorable matches

The reason wrestler aren't going into mma is now they are making some big paychecks. Not all but a lot I think it was rumored that Penn state's Carter Starocci was making over 400k on his way to his 4x ncaa championship. David Carr was also paid almost 1/2 a million dollars to change teams his senior year. Even tho he didn't take the offer wrestler are getting way more money than ever before.

Hey Luke, I scored CJI, KR vs AT under a scoring system incorporating the best rules of wrestling, judo and bjj: Kade Ruotolo = 54 points (RD1 14, RD2 24, RD3 16) Andrew Tackett - 51 points (RD1 13, RD2 13, RD3 25) {This was the highest scoring bout of any CJI bout} 2 Points - Submission Attempt (Must be close) (KR = 7 AT = 2) 2 Points - Guard Pass (KR = 0 AT = 0) 4 Points - Takedown (Must be grounded, if opponent pops back up this is not a takedown. If you sit and butt scoot or pull guard your opponent will receive points for the takedown) (KR = 3 AT = 1) 4 Points - Mount (Front or back, must have at least one hook in) (KR = 0 AT = 3) 4 Points - Escape from submission attempt and get back to feet (KR = 1 AT = 3) 4 Points - Reverse position from bottom to top (KR = 1 AT = 1) 1 Point - Pin (For every 10 seconds you're grounded your opponent will receive 1 point, this timer will restart during close submission attempts or when in 50/50 positions.(KR = 25 AT = 16) Please let me know if you approve or disapprove of this scoring system.

Man that was so disappointing all the setbacks Nicky has had to overcome. I knew there was something wrong that happened during camp that caused his cardio issues. Also, I thought Tackett was acting like a punk (I know some of it was for show but some of it was due to him being young). When Nicky gets healthy again, I hope he rematches him.
