Hey GreenZero , thanks for watching. Nope, the plan is to run the SPP on this server (DL380), now I must add that it's not all that old. The BIOS is from 2019. I have not checked the rest of the firmware yet.

You can buy 10 Gigabit network cards based on AQC107 chip (LR-LINK manufacturer or ASUS), I bought a couple of this cards for about $80 each from China. Works well, unraid supports this cards out of the box. This cards don't need SFP modules, just a regular cat 6 or cat 7 twisted pair will be fine. I connected my main PC and my server directly without a switch, so this upgrade to 10 Gigabit was not so expensive.

!!! I see you have four network connections..and you dont want to buy 10gig equipment... if I where you I would populate all those connections to the switch and make a network bond(Lagg/lacp) .. this will not give you 4gig single connection pipe, but 4 lanes of 1gig, so you would need 4 machines to saturate...

Hey Christoffer Olsen, good observation. I will give it some thought :). 10Gbit is something I would really like to upgrade to but I would need at least 2 switches and some more NICs to accomplish that. With some good equipment that can get expensive quite fast.

The dells blinky lights aren't as pretty as these are. I've worked with dells and IBM's for the most part for most of my life, and I've never seen drive activity indicators quite like these. It's actually quite entrancing!
