The lighter spots on the hood that looks cloudy is actually the resin got lower spots then other spots thats due to the color or the yellowing in the epoxy the more resin or epoxy you remove the less yellow it will look which also cutting it close to the fabric

Do I'm going to try to sand down a carbon fiber mountain bike frame, can I apply the same procedure to mtb frame? Carbon is carbon correct ? And how would you suggest finishing the frame after I stripped by sanding the paint off,clear coat and is there a special clear that should be used ? I'm spraying with a finex 3000 gun not the best but decent for a diy'r I used to use it to refinish restore and paint commercial espresso machines that's my business wholesale coffee distribution and service company in Brooklyn NY just sold business though after 27 years any insight and direction appreciated

I have a Porsche that I bought, originally exposed carbon fiber hood, but the previous owner painted it and I would like to get back to the original exposed carbon fiber. I’d like for you to work on it? I’m in Los Angeles.

I have a hood that was sanded slightly through to the weave (not to the point of ripping it) and was planning on painting it. Would it be possible to fix it instead? Would spraying it with clear make it look somewhat ok? kinda scared of applying resin.

Would need to resin it

@@BisforBoost yeah paint came off and end result was good. I jsur need more practice on clear coating lol. But the hood was already in bad shape. After clear coating, there is dark and light spot of carbon fiber from the paint. But idc I got hood for $50 anyways. But your video did indeed help me throughout the process !! Appreciate it

Well actually, going up too 1500-2500 grit wet sanding, then polishing will give you a much deeper gloss, rather then clearing over 400. Although I have seen people wet sand then polish, degrease then clear over the polished surface, which gives a really extreme gloss

120-150grit to eat through clear and paint material otherwise you will be there for a while once the paint clear is gone then you can 400-600 the epoxy resin
@BisforBoost2 жыл бұрын
400 will never get rid of the 120 girt sand marks. I would never do that. You can’t jump more then 100 girt at a time or you will have marks left behind. I also wouldn’t go any lower then 400 where clear won’t cover the marks.

Now the real question is.... if this wasn’t a homie hookup what would you be charging? I have to refinish both my hood and trunk due to heavy oxidation and don’t trust myself to do the work.

All depends on how bad it is. Finding the right person to do it right is hard.

Think you are coming in a little late. Not everyone wears mask when sanding. I been in the trade for 25 years. But thanks for checking us out.

Got it. I know it sucks to wear and mask but wearing oxygen in 20 years also blows. Just a friendly suggestion. Thanks for the video!
