Why is the NIN fanbase so wholesome? None of this "DESTROYING MY GENERATION" crap - when a song is sampled or appears in another piece of media, the fanbase just says "I know right? Here's some more great stuff. Enjoy!" WHY CAN'T WE HAVE MORE FAN GROUPS LIKE THIS?

Trent Reznor himself is cool with it, why would us NIN fans bother about it then? And I grew up with NIN, and I can tell you Trent´s philosophy is to always reinvent himself/his music, so he must have had such a good time listening to Old Town Road. He has even stated, don´t remember where, that when he composes a song, he then thinks about what other musical choices and paths that song could have took, that´s why NIN´s got a lot of remix albums. To Trent sampling one of his songs is like taking it from another perspective, and he loves that more than anybody else.

What I really appreciate is that Trent Reznor allowed an up-and-coming artist to sample his music…and the product became such a quick hit that, by the time it was realized they (LNX) hadn’t properly used the rights or given credit, that TR was such a stand-up dude that he allowed them to continue using it. I’m not a fan of country, but I’m a fan of art, a fan of creative repurposing (arguably all art and music, no?) and - above all - a fan of stewardship and kindness in gifting something that allowed someone else to succeed.

For anyone that would like to check more into Nine Inch Nails after hearing this from Old Town Road, I highly suggest The Fragile (album), Still (compilation/short "acoustic" album), With Teeth (album), and Hesitation Marks (album).
