My favorite B-vitamin supplement:

If you have ever taken the time to look at a box of cereal, you will likely notice that it has been fortified with several vitamins and minerals. One of those vitamins is Vitamin B1 or what is commonly referred to as thiamine or thiamine hydrochloride. While not widely known, it is actually a common nutritional deficiency that used to be responsible for thousands of deaths which led to companies fortifying their foods with it.

Very essential for proper insulin activity as well. This has been a lifesaver in my journey. My A1C numbers have improved dramatically, as also my fasting sugar level.

1998 I was diagnosed and disabled with Neurocardiogenicsyncope. I have the MTHFR HOMOZYGOUS GENE. Mental illness with several family members adhd, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. I’ve had better results from b1, liver supplementation, beetroot juice and cleaning up my diet by eating Whole Foods in the past year than I ever did with conventional pharmaceuticals. My doctors wouldn’t even look a vitamin deficiency. I have had to do my own research and have spent hours and hours on top of funds trying to help myself. What a sad state our medical system is. Please keep educating us!

Makes me think B1 similar to the widespread hidden magnesium deficiency problem. Have a fantastic new year Doctor Angel.

I have used it for my husband. He won't do keto and only cut back some on carbs but he is no longer on any insulin or diabetic meds. His latest A1C was 5.9 (prediabetic range). He takes 300mg daily. And the cofactors magnesium and choline.

Can you please do a video on Gastric Bypass & Thiamine please? It is so very critical that my Thiamine had depleted & Iam now on *hospice* from It at 40 years old. YES HOSPICE... I have permanent brain damage that was caused with brain lesions & I have heart failure been diagnosed with cardiac Beriberi from complications from my Gastric bypass & my Thiamine had depleted for a while & I was unaware of it & by the time I got help several different specialist said the damage was done caused & it is no getting better from it. If you have a Bariatric surgery & specially the Gastric Bypass & you start having complications of vomiting your Thiamine depletes very fast & It's a big medical emergency In order to end up like I did with permanent brain damage & heart failure, nerve damage, nystagmus of the eyes, & about 50 other serious diagnosis.

Very interesting Doc. With the small half-life and carbs being so damaging, would it be better to take the B vitamins in the evening thereby allowing the absorption to better benefit during the healing sleep process?

B1 is necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates. So I think taking B1 throughout the day and into the evening could be beneficial for some people - keeping it trickling in regularly.

Because you are probably low in gluthathione, magnesium/potassium and b12? Make sure your levels of the above are sufficient before supplanting with b1

What is the best way to measure these things? My serum B1 is 6 -- so it is low...and I am definitely in sympathetic dominance...I have lived in severe pain for many years....does deficiency lead to 'small fiber' neuropathy? mixed neuropathy? large fiber?
