B717 Landing in Lihue, Kauai Island

I used to love seeing those beautiful 717s flying that RARE approach onto Runway 3. Normally planes only takeoff that runway. And they land East of Nawiliwili and much of the land. So you never see them flying over you unless you stay Hanamaulu Beach when they takeoff, or if they take the Runway 21 approach in. So happy someone finally posted a Runway 3 approach from Best seat on the bus 👊🏽

The approach into RWY 3 is spectacular. I remember when I was young watching the 757s make steep banks to align with the runway. Reminds me of the days when Kai Tak was around!

I remember when 3-21 was shorter and it was the only runway with the old terminal pre 1982/83.

Kauai was one of my favorite Islands to fly into because you flew over open ocean from Honolulu en route to Lihue. Quite often I would see a circular rainbow glistening off of the prop. Flying through Waimea Canyon there was always so beautiful - utterly breath taking.

Love that island. Nice song as well, but the singer left out the roosters crowing all hours of the night and day.
