I did a lot of work on that thing during the 90s & 2000s during its restoration That includes the strip-down & everything.. Anyway, good to see they've got it up & running again... Don't forget to put small racing greyhoud stickers above the instruments in the cabs boys. The reason we were going to put small racing greyhound racing decals on there when finished is because B72 was nicknamed "The Greyhound" by the drivers back when it was in service because it went bloody hard for a B Class...hence the nickname. She was considered a good unit...

A beautiful locomotive. Also here in Finland, in the late 1950s and early 1960s, a series of handsome round-nosed diesel electric locomotives, type Hr12, later Dr12, were produced.

I believe the EMD "Bulldog Nose" E and F series diesels are the most aesthetically pleasing ever built anywhere in the world. The lines are so smooth and convey motion so well. I always have and always well love them.

For an engine that operates around 900 rpm in the 8th notch she’s going to be around for a long time … regardless whether it was a gp-9, gp-7 or a wagon top ( our nickname for them on the B&O ), they had a great and dependable prime mover ….thanks for the awesome video …ms~~~

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 I’ve never seen or heard of this B72 before. It is radically cool! The old E & F unit engines are some of my favorites! I grew up around the CSX rail shop & there were always engines around & running all night. I have some very powerful memories of my life there. Love to see her move under her own power! Many of our preserved and renovated diesel-electric locomotives in the UK have quite an active retirement on preserved rail lines, as well as on the national network hauling heritage train tours. They can even be seen earning revenue on national rail services and on industrial lines, covering loco and multiple unit shortages. As there are very limited supplies of loco-hauled coaches here on our national rail network these days, they often end up hauling rakes of preserved coaches too.

When I first hired out with the BNSF they were still running a few of these covered wagons. I once had to walk through the engine consist doing about 70. Imagine the sound and head when you in the belly of one of these. Pretty cool!

I got to drive the Commonwealth Railways Versions designated as GM 1 etc fifty years ago. Had listened to them fading into the desert towards WA from childhood. Love them.

I remember a VR T class (8V567) at Bonnie Doon (yes how's the serenity?) as a child in 1970. I'll never forget the sound as long as I live. I got woken up by it and ran outside and saw it and that's where it all started.

I really hope B72 stays in it's teacup livery. We have too many blue and gold heritage diesels running around. It would be nice to see something different.

Absolutely would be nice to see some of the Tangerine era in preservation for sure. V/line beat everyone to the punch with A66 but Teacup absolutely would be a nice one. Underrated scheme if you ask me. Also agreed, blue and gold is nice but it's kinda boring to only see it everywhere and nothing else. Then again, I guess that's historically accurate too hah.

X54 now wears teacup livery as of now. ECHR was like why not change something up with X54 and they went with painting it into VicRail Teacup scheme

When I was a kid, I used to get my parent to take me to the airport to watch the Spirit of Progress or Southern Aurora leave, hauled mainly S classes with X Classes turning up as I got older, I would go up on the road bridge over platform 1 when they left . I still love that sound of those EMD diesels .

V12. The Winton design is a two stroke so it uses the Roots blower as a scavenge to blow air in a exhaust out.
