@thanks for the rebuild video it's helping me. I m currently rebuilding the BW7A transmission which is around 215 k miles. When I tear down all the parts look great except for some gear burnout clutches plates. The low spray looks pretty good on mine & debating whether should I change it or not! Suggest me plz
@CurmudgeonTransmissionАй бұрын
I would change it. I replace it on every one. It's a lot of work to go back into for a not so expensive part now. Put the Sonnax end plugs in the valve body. For this one you will need 5 small, 2 medium and 1 large. Replace the torque converter. I would get it from Precision of New Hampton. If it has the cooler warmer on top of the transmission, I would put a bypass kit in and an auxiliary cooler. If it is going through the radiator. I would replace the radiator and add an auxiliary cooler. Links are in the description. Here is the one for the bypass kit. www.transmissionpartsdistributors.com/honda-acura-5-speed-transmissions-baya-maya-bdga-bgfa-mgfa-spca-mpca-b7wa-m7wa-transmission-cooler-warmer-universal-fit-external-adapter/

what are you whacking on at 1:00:50 ? ... just seating the gear(s) ? do you change the bearings ? id imagine you changed the torque converter. Any specific brand you prefer for a quality torque converter ?
@CurmudgeonTransmission7 ай бұрын
That is the park gear. I change them when they are bad. Precision of New Hampton is who I recommend for a torque converter.

You mention another video where you install the case/bearing kit. I can’t find that one. Help?
@CurmudgeonTransmission3 ай бұрын
If you are talking about the center case bearings, I don't have that. They have to be machined to accept them. We buy them already done. If you are talking about something else, give me the time stamp and I will figure it out.

Thanks for the video and enjoyed the assembly. I have the same transmission that was rebuild in a reputable shop in 2012. It was fine until last month. It has been 55k after rebuild and it started to shift rough in the mornings but it get better after driving. Do you recommend anything. Thanks for your time

If there are not any codes in the system, you could try 1-2 bottles of Black Lubegard.
@egetelatar41292 жыл бұрын
@@CurmudgeonTransmission Thanks a lot for your reply. There no codes. I did clean A/T CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVES A and B, and A/T CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE C. There was nothing in them. I did a trans flush with Dw1 3qt. The drain plug did catch the friction material but, it wasn't excessive. The fluid was not too dark neither very red. I also did replace the filter with ATP filter. I feel like they helped a bit. Do you recommend doing 2 more flushes or add Lubegard right away. Thanks for your time.
@CurmudgeonTransmission2 жыл бұрын
Just seen your re-post. It got flagged for some reason. I don't recommend transmission flushes. A lot of the dealerships no longer recommend them either. They will void your warranty over it now. I would try the Lubegard. It could be a faulty A&B solenoid. They are the ones that fail the most. Very rare but it does happen. If you replace it, I would not recommend ANY aftermarket solenoids for this transmission. I would also try cleaning the MAF sensor. Be very careful with it though, easy to damage.

In the disassembly video you were talking about Sonnax. Now in the rebuild video you're using Trans Go. ?? And do the Trans Go parts do the same thing as the Sonnax and Superior Trans Lab ?
@CurmudgeonTransmission8 ай бұрын
I use the Sonnax end plugs on my Honda's. If you want to replace all of them, which I do, you will need 2 kits. If I remember correctly. Each unit is different. They also make a pressure regulator valve an a tcc check valve. The Transgo will do the same thing as those 2, cheaper. In the long run anyways. There is enough to do 5 transmissions. This unit is the Honda-LK Kit. Superior only makes snap rings for this unit, unless something has changed recently that I am unaware of. The real cure is a new radiator and ad an auxilliary cooler.

@@CurmudgeonTransmission I have an '02 TL Type S. I'm not exactly sure what my transmission designation actually is. But, you're right, I didn't see anything for the B7WA by Superior Trans Lab. Seems Sonnax offers a lot of individual expensive stuff for these transmissions. I believe the TCC repair requires the purchase of expensive special tool holder jig and special drill to open up the bore. And I'm not sure if I can justify spending all that money to go the Sonnax route as I'm not going to be rebuilding a whole lot of these transmissions. The only reason why I feel like doing the one on my TL is #1: the transmission has 100k on it AGAIN and it's on its 3rd transmission. So I'm sure it will need to be done again. #2: an interesting experience #3: bragging rights #4: keep the numbers matching #5: the transmission in the car right now actually is a remanufactured unit from Acura and would like to try to keep that transmission with the car. Meaning it's not a Howard reman or worse. of course my other option is to install the ever popular 2006 - 2007 Accord V6 automatic transmission. it's hard to see what you're actually doing in the video. But I'm sure it only comes apart one way and goes back together in reverse order. So as long as I stay organized... ... shouldn't be too bad. I guess I question my own judgement of the possibilities of not recognizing if other parts not discussed might need replacement ? And if so, are these parts available through the dealership? And are they expensive to the degree that it might make the overhaul too expensive ? like Subaru 5MT internal transmission parts are (way too expensive). lol ... this transmission wasn't abused and it's actually still functioning beautifully right now. but it did do 100k without the external transmission cooler (which I do plan to do this time). The previous transmissions were done when the vehicle was owned by my customer and he didn't want me to install the external transmission cooler after the second replacement. because he knew he was giving me the car at 300,000 miles. ya can't kill these cars even if you do overheat them. I overheated the snot out of this one because I couldn't figure out why it was overheating. Ended up being a bunch of mother nature blocking the radiator fins. By the time I figured out it was the radiator causing the over heating and changed the radiator.... ... I overheated the water pump so much, that the impeller lost its crimp on the impeller shaft and the engine over heating persisted and Acura ended up condemning that it was the water pump that was now the cause of the overheating. And those head gaskets survived the scorching. in the past few months I adjusted the valves, resealed the valve covers with Stone or Ichino valve cover gaskets, resealed the water pipe / crossover pipe and replaced the thermostat with a tama thermostat, replaced the knock sensor with NTK part, resealed the lower intake runners, cleaned the intake manifolds and EGR ports, replaced (6) fuel injectors with khein reman units, replaced the IAT sensor NTK brand, replaced the ECT sensor Beck Arnley, replaced the tw fan sensor switch beck Arnley, replaced PCV valve genuine Honda part, removed the throttle body and cleaned the throttle body, removed the IAC valve and cleaned that valve, resealed IAC valve resealed throttle body, replaced (6) spark plugs NGK iridium and (6) new Denso coils, replaced oxygen sensor. really hitting this engine and driveline with the smelling salts. What didnt I refresh ? MAP sensor, TPS sensor, IAC valve, crank sensor. lol .... Running wires for stereo and sourced a pretty nostalgic set of Neuspeed springs for it.

Update: unless I'm misunderstanding something Superior TransLab Part # STL-HO5-388 is for Honda / Acura 5 -speeds I'd say check this kit out !! it seems to state that this kit takes care of numerous more issues or symptoms with these transmissions. But I'm not sure if the Trans Go does the exact same thing. But the trans go description of of what their kit actually does isn't as elaborate or in depth as the Superior TransLab kit claims. Definitely a lot more components and modifications associated with the Superior kit.

where are people going wrong when they try to rebuild these transmissions and they don't shift correctly afterwards or more specifically they shift hard or erratically.
