Kept seeing this in books and never understood it. Finally had the thought, "I bet Billy has a video on it" and lo and behold he does. Thank you King ! Praying Hand Emoji

이 문법 가르칠 때마다 학생들이 너무 헷갈려서 어찌할 바를 몰라해요... 😹 Teaching this in 3rd, 4th year Korean courses was always challenging...!!!!! 🤯😳 Kudos to your detailed lesson with really frequently used examples! 🙌🏻👍🏼

I just want to say thank you very much. I can learn both English and Korean thanks to you Billy! It's really really important for me and without you i can't do this. I don't know if you see this comment or don't but i just wanted to write something from my heart.

Definitely an advanced lesson, but well worth watching. Oddly enough, 바 came up in a game I was watching being streamed...very exciting to see an actual application of the word.

l like your videos.... but this one was too fast kkkkk. It is a wee bit advanced for me. Will have to watch it again and again. Just thinking loud, would it be possible to make such advance videos a bit slower... please :-D?

Except for me pronouncing 바 way too slowly in the examples, I'm glad you liked it :-) I'll start trying to add a more full-speed reading at the end of each sentence, because I wasn't even thinking about how that would affect its sound.

Learn Korean with GO! Billy Korean So, in my personal opinion, it’s not actually a speed thing at all. It’s just making a more conscious effort on voicing versus unvoicing. You just have to ask yourself whether the syllable in front of the base consonant ㄱㄷㅂㅈ will impact it or not. If it does, regardless of the speed, make the 성음, 된소리, or 거센소리 adjustment. In your head, you’re still thinking that it’s speed opposed to an actual sound change. The two are related but still mutually exclusive. Practice making the changes at slow speeds. That may fix it for ya. Also, in the chats on this one, I noticed that a native said something about your ㄹ being Western sounding. Once those 2 things are cleaned up, I think you’re brushing up against 원어민 수준 rather than 고급. I obviously still have tons to work on myself. But, I did really like this lesson a lot. There are common expressions that I totally forgot use 바. Pretty fascinating. Great lesson choice!!

thank you very much for this! I was just studying for topik and I was gonna suggest the 바 for the next live class abridged. I hope you can make more lessons in this level of grammar because there are not a lot of resources to use to study the 고급 level in 읽기 and 듣기 for 한국어능력시험. Thank you for the effort of creating these videos.

I'm happy to make more advanced levels, if that's what my Members request. All of the topics come from Members' requests.

Hi Billy can you also make a lesson about 옵소서 and 하소서?
@GoBillyKorean4 жыл бұрын
I choose all of these live stream topics from Member suggestions, so if my Members request that form then I can do it :-) But it's not as useful as other forms I think, because it's an archaic grammar ending (something you'd find in old style writing/speech) similar to the ~세요 form.
@grantjames37364 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you, Iyah. More and more older forms are showing up in KDramas and KPop. I think that it is a way under-taught area of Korean.
