Jonathan Meese is a German painter, sculptor, performance artist and installation artist based in Berlin and Hamburg. His works include collages, drawings and writing. He also designs theater sets and wrote and starred in a play, "De Frau: Dr. Poundaddylein - Dr. Ezodysseusszeusuzur" in 2007 at the Volksbühne Theater.

Interesting Dude! I have to watch this a little at a time. I'm too busy thinking about what he just said and miss what he is saying. He's a tweeker boarding on a nervous break down. An Artist indeed. I thought the young Lady who interviewed him was excellent. The Art world is using up Jonathan Meese but such a lovely way to get used up. It's hard not to take life so seriously when on takes ones own life so serious.

it pains me to watch his lonely struggle to explain his concept of art that opposes ideology and then being asked again and again to place his work into an ideological frame (in this case, german history). I admire his patience. Just a thought Mikenekonomimi, (I've been a painter many years), his essence is correct in that if one thinks about, "what am I going to paint" that falls under ideology. Just doing it, hand spirit coordination not hand eye or hand mind. True his concept or concepts of Art are ideological in nature, the moment one defines Art it becomes ideological; the process at moment of implementation if enacted form pure action without thought is what he is trying to make ref. to - "just play"

so funny to read all these positive comments under this video. in videos he talks german, in front of german audience, most comments are really negative or in a amusing way. I think Meese has interesting thoughts and ways to think, not the conventional ways and cultural and morally expected ways to think, what is really refreshing compared with other figures or "personalities" in public But I think also that, often he has many thoughts that are not thinked to it's end, and also he has many, many behaviors or views wich can't be afford by other people, cause they have not such a comfortable life like he has. And so I think much stuff he says is simple bullshit, his views are so similar to his very special life. finally he's a interesting person, i like better that a person full of beliefs, wich the person defends no matter what. let me know what you think

A lot of interesting points, but at the end of the day, he is advocating for a quite dystopian society, which will never be without pain. How does Art deal with a person who is mentally unstable and decides to kill another person or an animal in order to paint a picture with the blood, claiming this to be Art itself and therefore cool? How does Art deal with all the other nasty ugliness that comes with intellectual humans in a society?
