Does anyone else agree that the Champion Stakes was a better race when it was run at Newmarket? Just imagine if Frankels final race had been at the scene of his famous Guineas win. The racing on Champions Day has rarely been great imo. I’d rather go back to the QE II in late September at Ascot on better ground and the Champion at Newmarket where the surface copes better with the late season weather. Then horses could even run in both.

Mate, I agree If I’d owned him I would have been aiming him at the Arc - but only on the condition that the ground was decent. I wouldn’t run my champion horse on heavy ground at Longchamp as his first try over 12f. So whilst I would have been targeting the Arc I would have withdrawn him in the heavy ground. The problem with Baaeed (and Frankel before him) is that both should have run over 10f at 3. If they’d both won over 10f at 3 there would have been so many opportunities to try 10 and 12f at 4. They both left it too late to step up in distance. If he wins on Saturday the only other race I would consider running him in is the Japan Cup. 12f and you can usually expect a good surface. I would not run him at the Breeders Cup The dirt races there are great, the turf races I don’t rate at all due to the tracks. The only thing about the Japan Cup is that would mean he had been up for a long time. His first race in mid May so by late November he would have been in training for over 8 months and racing for almost 7 months. It’s a lot to ask a horse to travel at the end of that lengthy period on the go.

Just echoing some earlier comments If he wins comfortably on Saturday he goes down as a very good racehorse but hardly into immortality. Immortality would have been winning the Arc Unfortunately the Arc has been run on dreadful ground 5 out of the last 6 years so I don’t blame them for not going there If there was a decent chance of decent ground at Longchamp they should have gone there but in the end they made the right decision because of the ground and weather. I wouldn’t run my champion horse at Longchamp in the mud as his first attempt at 12f. I wouldn’t run him in the Breeders Cup races either The turf tracks in the US aren’t good enough for world championship races. Too tight and the straights are too short. The problem with Baaeed (and Frankel before him) is that both should have run over 10f at 3. If they’d both won over 10f at 3 there would have been so many opportunities to try 10 and 12f at 4. Baaeed will attempt to win his 11 and final start in the Qipco Champion Stakes over 10F. I am of the opinion he is a bet against with the presence of the 2021 Epsom Derby winner Adayar in the field. No! I haven't lost my mind but rather, I am viewing the race from a perspective that I think make sense. As usual I could be totally wrong, and the cold facts below could prove to be meaningless. ADAYAR - 6/05/2021 - Won 12F Epsom.(G1) BAAEED - 6/05/2021 - Won 8F MSW ADAYAR - 7/24/2021 - Won 12F King George against older. First to achieve the Epsom Derby/King George double since Gallello (20Y) BAAEED - 7/30/2021 - Won 8F; G3 (57K) ADAYAR - 10/3/2021 - Finished 4th 12F Arc. Led in final furlong; Track -heavy BAA EED - 10/16/2021-Won 8F G1-$624K What does the above three 3YO races for the top 2 entrants in the Champion Stakes reflect? Adayar was the more accomplished 3YO by a wide margin. One colt was winning a MSW when the other was winning the Epsom Derby. One colt was winning the King George against older when the other was winning a G3 against his peers Due to injury Adyar was away from the races for 327 days. He made his only start as a 4YO in September. It was not much of a field (2 opponents) and he cantered the entire10F without being let off the bridle. Baaeed has made 4 starts as a 4YO winning all impressively. The big question has to be. Is Baaeed a better horse than Adayar? And if so. By how much? A review of Baaeed RR reflects he has never met a 4YO like Adayar. Charlie Appleby was reluctant to run Adayar in the Epsom Derby because he viewed him as a big unfinished sort, whom he believed would be much better as 4YO. Adayar performed way beyond his trainer's expectation as a 3YO. Another big question has to be. How much has Adayar improved in the 327 days he has been away? Is he now the finished product Appleby and ready to supersede what he accomplished as a 3YO. If he has returned a better colt at 4, it is likely he will be more than a formidable opponent for Baaeed. Will Baaeed be able to run by Adayar who a resolute galloper as a 3YO and who should be much stronger as a 4YO.? It's not an ordinary 3YO that wins the Epsom Derby and the King George in the same year. There is really nothing on Baaeed's resume to compare to same. I'm therefore of the opinion that Adayar should prove too tough for Baaeed and will send him to the breeding shed with his sole career loss.
@elgransenor14722 жыл бұрын

Baaeed’s style of racing is like his dad (Sea The Stars) in that he doesn't destroy his opposition but wins like he's not all out. So that makes him hard to gauge how good he is. I mean obviously he's very good. but with Frankel it was easier because of the distance he used to put dehind him. Also Baeed never won a classic and never raced at two. Also the best horse middle distance of last year (St Marks Basillica) was retired to stud. The unbeaten English Derby winner (Desert Crown) got injured and this years Arc winner (Alphinsta) is not here. Maybe Baeed would have beaten them all ? Maybe. I've got a feeling he'll lose tomorrow.
