They are not brothers biologically speaking. Shivagami (queen mother) is OG Baahubali's aunt (Baahubali's father & Bhallaldeva's father (the handicapped guy) were brothers), but she adopted & raised him as her own when both his parents died. Baahubali & Bhallaldeva are first cousins genetically, but were raised like brothers. In any case, in Indian culture, close cousins are thought of as brothers & sisters generally speaking.

It's bizzare that it's happening in the 21st century. It includes an alien discovering various parts of our culture and it's all very well shot. Tldr- It has a great story that can be appreciated by more people who are new to Indian cinema. The Kerala story is a very mediocre film with unbelievably gullible characters with a twisted narrative that almost makes it unwatchable. (3 not 32000) It will suit the uneducated north Indian masses more who's identity revolves around religion and extremism. The Kashmir files though much better than the Kerala story in every way still has it's very glaring flaws. Also, the people who aren't so involved in the conflict won't connect with the story that much. Of course, it also has very blatant politically partisan (seculars bad) undertones but that's much more tolerable.
