It makes one appreciate how many historic places are in Pakistan, for Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, but why they have never been exposed till now is baffling to me? I suppose better late then never. I pray that Pakistan becomes more safe and secure, so that people all over the world can appreciate and enjoy all these wonderful sights and sounds. I have been working as a doctor in this village between 2003 to 2006. The mandar or asthana is adjacent to the health facility. I have gone many times inside this structure and have rung its bell. The place was looked after by an old disabled lady who was cleaning it since time when its worshipers left to India and handed over the keys to her. I have recently learned that she has died and now her immediate family is caring the place and they are residing in one corner of the small courtyard. There is a story about the mandar that it was initially a small mosque built by soldiers of king Babar's army. They had evacuated the place. Sometimes later it became a Sikh/hindu worshiping place. The room is still like a mosque as it is oriented towards kaba (angulation different from rest of the constructions in the village) and has the attic called mehrab. There had been a morti in the mehrab which is broken and only half left. People cover the piece with a chadar of Data darbar Lahore. There is a slightly raised platform beneath the morti on which is engraved the picture of a Sikh baba ji. The room mandar/temple/mosque (whatever) is adjacent to a water reservoir which was probably used of religious ablution. This is now full of dirty water and the village people use it for waste dumping. The village people hold a mela every year on 12 of April. The mandar is white washed and decorated. Muslims, Hindus Christians and sometimes Sikhs come and go inside the mandar or whatever it is. The Hindus pray in their own way and they wear saffron colour dresses and behave like yogis. Muslims do not offer namaz or recite Quran but they rise their hands for doa in their own peculiar way. Sometimes qawali teams come and they sing Muslim qawalis. I don't know how Christian's symbolise their religion. Kusra people, I mean shemales are very active in the religious discourse inside the structure. In short this place is a great come together of many religions. There is no hostility as only ordinary people are fond of coming here. No maulvis pindits or gurus are seen. There is also a circus in the village near the mandar. A lot of makeshift shops are there selling edibles like qatlama jalebi and sweet drinks. I love to visit it and will inshaAllah visit it in coming April once again.
