I still remember the moment I first heard this song. Our school was hosting a choir festival and my group just finished. We were leaving the concert hall when the next choir started singing this. I remember no longer having control of my body or where my feet were going. The music literally engrossed me and carried me back to the hall and I just stood by the door with my jaw to the floor like 😦. I’ve never had something move me to tears like this song did at that moment. I was in tears by the end of it and I was probably the loudest in the room clapping and cheering ❤

For some reason I always like the studio cut of this better. I think it reminds me of all the hours I spent weeping in front of Civilization IV's title screen. Just something about the animated day/night cycle of Earth's surface, lights of cities visible in the night, with this song that pierces my heart.

Your pieces are so beautiful and touch human nature so deeply that they feel like they've always been here. Doesn't matter in which language they are, whether they are or aren't prayers to a specific god, doesn't matter. They transcend our differences and bring us together. Thank you Mr. Tin for your innumerable gifts to humanity

We need another Baba Yetu for Civilization VII. Sogno di Volare was great. It was bold and adventurous; wonderous about what awaits us if we take that next step forward. But Baba Yetu perfectly captured the heart and soul of human civilization. It was filled with optimism and reverence, blaring triumphantly as if all of human history was on parade before our eyes. All while selflessly casting off the glory and giving it to the spirit of the father of all of mankind and being sung in the language of the people who live where the very footsteps of our first ancestors are forever etched in stone. Perfection.

What Romeo and Juliet is to Shakespeare, what Pride and Prejudice is to Jane Austen…is what Sound of Music is to Rodgers and Hammerstein…is what Into the Woods is to Sondheim…is what Baba Yetu is to Christopher Tin. Legendary pieces of art that became synonymous with its artist, and never seem to get old and actually age like the finest wine. I love this piece with every fiber of my being ❤️❤️❤️ Chris, does it ever get old to conduct? I can only hope not…

I am the last person in the world that you would like to see dance, I'm handicap, cant walk easily, broken back, No rhythm, No elegance, don't know how to dancing at all and already did not know before my handicap, but when I hear this song I just want to stand on my fragile legs and dance, just closing my eye and let the music take me away.

The length of the original Civ4 version is about 3:28 while this is about 3:10. 18 seconds can make a huge difference it seems! The original seems very slow paced and calm in comparison to this one. I'd definitely recommend anyone to also listen to the original version if they like this one!

I love Thelonious Monk’s music cause I always hear joy & playfulness in it. From now on, when I describe the sound of joy and playfulness I will say: like in Christopher Tin’s music. Though in fairness there’s a special kind of warmness in your music that is as effective as a baby laughter to put a smile on everyone’s faces who listens to it. Thank you sir!
