I was a private military security contractor in the Middle East and I had a copy of this movie. I'd come home to my little dumpy villa after patrols and I'd watch this every day. It's pretty cool to see that this particular interaction helps Hoggett a great deal as well as Babe. Throughout most of the story, he was presented as something of a morose, unenthusiastic person, with what seems to be no direction or passion in his life outside of doing what he knows. And along comes this pig, that not only presents him with a unique challenge, but imbues him with a renewed sense of purpose.

There is a lot more I notice about this scene as an adult and how moving it is. Babe's face is cast in shadows when he's refusing to drink from the bottle, but when Hogget starts singing to him and Babe looks up at him, the light starts revealing his face. Some really good composition.

Mr. C one the best dang actors of the 20th and 21st centuries, he is a natural in every act he plays. I think I have seen every work of his and have never been disapointed. But BABE was in my book his finest. How many of us were transported to that lovely lil farm with all of the animals and cracked up from the mice to the horse and to Rex the head sheepdog. I thank the men and women who brought BABE to the screen and to the millions of people who have enjoyed BABE over the years. Folks go out and buy the DVD or BLUE RAY, check our OLDIES.com (no i do not work for them or get anything, just they seem to have every movie around and low cost in most cases. Stumped for a Xmas gift, ask your co workers, friends if they saw BABE, i bet they will say yep, ask them do they have the movie in their collection..bet many will say nope...there you go, great Xmas gift. This scene reminded me of my youth saving our baby pigs and goats and sheep when they got sick. Even as an adult how many pups we pulled thru when the vets said put them down and many lived to be 21 and 25 yrs old. When we lost one trust me it hurt like heck As I sit here 7 decades on this rock, surrounded by my last 10 dogs, 4 are 21, 4 are 18, rest are from 5 to 16 yrs old. 4 bad hearts and that means meds 3-4 x a day. The greatest day of our lives is when an animal joins us and the worst damn day is when they pass on. So enjoy your animal friends every hour of every day. God Bless to all who love and help HIS animal friends. Pax+

I rewatched this movie on the way back from Europe from a cruise last night and I'd forgotten how good it was. Hoggett has a great singing voice. With Cromwell being so tall, I'm surprised he didn't hit the ceiling.

I could see it appearing a bit out of place as a kid, but it makes much more sense after rewatching the movie now. Babe began starving himself after finding out most pigs get eaten by their owners. Warren nurtures Babe because he truly cares for him, with no interest in sending him to slaughter. They could never communicate to each other through words, yet this scene solidifies that they each truly care for one another. On top of that, Warren never really expresses himself or shows much emotion. Babe brings out the best in him, much like he does with every other animal on the farm.

Just watched the clip cause the same music was used in another KZbin video and I couldn't remember in which movie I heard it! Me and my daughter both loved the movie and watched the clip together. One way to make a farmer embarrassed, hey animals 😂
