He is a very good doctor. To be honest, there isn't a doctor i don't like, but he has a noble charm about him which i love. He is one of my favourite doctors. Behind Matt, Tom, and William. He deserves way more respect.

I think the problem was how poorly he was treated in his first season. His Doctor was initially written as an unbearable, arrogant jerk. Thankfully, in the Trial of a Time Lord season, he was blessed with a far more likable personality. He was still a bit arrogant, but more to the humurous extent of Tom Baker, and not so much that he was unbearable. He was also far more moral, and much more of a good guy. Just look at the Trial scenes in Mindwarp, or his "They're still in the nursery compared to us!" speech in The Ultimate Foe. Colin deserved better than what he was given for Doctor Who.

This is probably your tribute that I come back to the most. It's just so fun! People tend to say "Good Doctor, horrible episodes!" Okay I'll give you Twin Dilemma, Timelash, and Ultimate Foe... but that's it. The rest range from good fun to brilliant. That's a good run, right there.

Every time I watch this video, for a moment, I feel like Six's era was something far greater and better than what he got. A wonderful Doctor killed by mediocre to bad scripts and Michael Grade's hatred. Thank God he got a second chance with Big Finish but audiostories, though great, just can't replace an original episode. So sad he got only two years of screentime.

+KoviCZ One of the best Big Finish purchases I made was the interview he did last year. It's really illuminating as he goes into detail about his run in a great one-on-one interview, and as a fan of his, I really felt for him in hearing his words on the tough executive and fan backbiting he received about his Who run. He's had a fascinating career, and I'd like to find someway to view his run on "The Brothers" as a result. He's hands down been my favorite Doctor in the Big Finish run, but like you, it would have been cool to see an extension of his run. Thanks to the good KZbin, fellow Six supporters have a place to congregate.

His scripts are very hit and miss, but most are far better than what the mainstream populace will give him credit for. True, "The Twin Dilemma" is downright dreadful (even though I'll still probably end up owning it), but "Vengeance on Varos" is essentially "The Matrix" twenty years ahead of its time, and there are some interesting character moments sprinkled throughout his tenure. Interestingly enough, Ol' Sixy's the one Doctor who's probably benefited most via the power of hindsight from the Revived Series. "Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen. They're still in the nursery compared to us. Ten million years of absolute power. That's what it takes to become really corrupt." Still sends shivers down my spine knowing that--in just a few regenerations--the Time War will prove Six right.

Star Wars Advance Well no, only a vocal minority, whose views were written into the doctor who bible decades ago, and hence most comments on 6th doctor videos are largely filled with apprehensive comments like 'I actually like the 6th doctor' - hardly surprising that they would be a bit taken aback after going into his episodes expecting the worst. Also, very often on YT you hear someone spouting dribble along the lines of: colon baker worst doctr ever indoctor who he is so bad he is from the 80s and thats bad. bad wirtiting pore scripts too camp and too loud arorgant lowest buget terrible outfit bad not good awful ... Then you ask them 'why do you hate his doctor?' they give a long winded reply about how they do in fact love him but he was sabotaged by evil JNT or something to that effect, and that he had a couple of bad stories (wow that's completely unheard of in any other doctor who era!) Of course it's good for a character to develop, but that's no cause for belittling the original TV episodes.

You know, the sixth Doctor is hated mostly over his coat, which while I sort of get it; I sort of don't. I mean, the Doctor is an alien, so it's obvious his clothing choices aren't of the norm (even though NuWho doesn't necessarily show that anymore), and something that occurs with every doctor is a quirk or something off about they're appearance (11's bow tie, 10s converse, 7's vest & umbrella, etc.) and in this case, 6's quirk is his coat, and you definitely remember it. All I'm saying is to not hate on 6 for his coat so much. (Also, unlike other people, I don't cringe upon seeing it, just crack a smile cause of it.)

I love his personality too, he's an alien! he doesn't Act human and he shouldn't act in a way that will please them, I mean helping the humans should be enough, I'm not a fan of the 10th doctor for that reason. he was too self-indulgent and soppy to the point where when he turned human in family of blood, I couldn't tell the difference. I know I'm being a bit ranty but I need to get stuff of my chest once in a while. I never liked rtd's run because he put character before story so even if you hated the episode you could still enjoy the characters and I think that was half-arsed. I think David was the perfect choice, but his mockny accent was appalling, I think he should have been Scottish.

Sound Effect Studios Yeah, but Pertwee's frilly shirts and capes, and Tom's comically long scarf were also alien choices, but they looked like something somebody would actually wear (not to mention badass af). Nobody in their right mind would think that clown outfit Colin was forced to wear looks good. Even in interviews when he still was the Doctor, when he was under contract by the BBC to make the show appear in a positive light, he still said it looked like garbage, but luckily for him, he didn't have to look at his own suit most of the time, so it was just an eyesore for everyone but him. (He said that jokingly of course).

I remember watching all of his stories back in the 80s. I always thought Colin Baker was a marvelous actor and a fine Doctor, unfortunately the BBC quit caring about the show and he and McCoy never got the chance to save it. I would've enjoyed seeing C. Baker do another couple of seasons with better writing. Oh well...

I've really haven't watched sixs stories. It was a shame that Michael grade decided to put the show on hiatus, because if he hadn't, we would have had the lost season 23 and the sixth doctor would have been one of the most highly regarded doctors and one of the longest running as Colin wanted to do as much Seasons or more than Tom baker.

I saw him at a convention once. He told us that the director had asked the costume designer for the most ghastly outfit possible. Everything she came back with was, in his opinion, "Too tasteful", so finally, out of frustration, she scrawled a quick sketch of the ugliest thing she could think of and said sarcasticly, "How about this?" and he said, non-sarcasticly, "Perfect!" Colin Baker wanted an outfit of flowing black but was told it's too much like the master.

Okay, so I was actually in a higher-budget production of “Joseph” and when I heard the director was setting it in a sort of fantastic version of the modern era, I thought for sure that our Joseph would be wearing a coat similar to Colin’s. That isn’t actually what ended up happening, though. Instead our Joseph wore this gorgeous white linen coat with gold lining and paint splatters all over it.

+simonster -909 : The clothing choices are a big complaint of mine for the 9th and 10th Doctors. In real life, if you saw someone walk down the street looking like they did, you probably wouldn't give them a second look. The Doctor, in my opinion, is supposed to be noticeable. Perhaps it was carried away a bit in the Sixth Doctor's case, but no one can say that he didn't make his presence known.

+retnavybrat What irritates me about those outfits is that they look so off-the-rack and say nothing about the Doctor's personality, despite his changing fashions through the years, his clothes have generally reflected early 20th century fashions. The Ninth Doctor would have been far more appealing if he wore a First World War leather flying jacket with period canvas trousers and a labourer's shirt rather than the plastic jacket and T-shirt.

It is unfortunate that Colin Baker is so vastly underrated. His Doctor is actually quite brilliant...when the scripts allow him to be. Yes, his tenure probably saw the worst scripts to ever be written for Doctor Who. But he did the best he could with the material he was given. If you don't like his Doctor, then you should blame John Nathan-Turner, not Mr. Baker. And if you haven't yet, you really need to listen to the Sixth Doctor stories from Big Finish. They are outstanding. Easily better than any of his televised stories. They also allow him to portray the character the way he always wanted to. So seriously, check them out, and learn why Colin Baker was so great for the part.

so underrated. The thing about Colin Baker is he always gave 150%. No one can name one scene where he turned in bad acting or 'phoned in' a performance. Same with Nicola Bryant/Peri or the Doctor Who Scream Queen, Mel. What happened is after the best Regeneration ever in probably the best Doctor episode ever, Caves of Androzani, it was followed up with one of the worst ever, Twin Dilemma. Vengeance on Varos, or The Two Doctors should have been his first story. Six had some really good stories, Vengeance, Revelation, Two Doctors, Mindwarp, Attack, etc...

James Twelves It surprises me that a lot of people really dislike Attack of the Cybermen, I thought it to be one of the better classic episodes. It was original, the plot was quite easy to follow, the action scenes were well done, Baker and Bryant gave wonderful performances (as usual). The Cybermen themselves had a nice design, I dunno why it always gets overlooked or completely shat on when people talk about Cybermen episodes.

The BBC's treatment of Colin Baker was just unforgivable. If you really think about it, he was one of the most capable actors ever to play the Doctor. Don't get me wrong - they've all been marvellous - but even when he played the most arrogant and LOUD incarnation of the character, he still managed to find real emotional depth in the part (just watch The Trial of a Time Lord, and see how he develops from the usual arrogance to a more heroic, sympathetic character).

Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor has been truly reborn through Big Finish audio. This is a great thing, since he clearly had potential to be an excellent incarnation (which I never felt with Davison before him or McCoy after) but was horribly sabotaged by horrible scripts. If anybody has a right to dump on the show after how they treated him, it's Colin Baker, but he's one of the biggest boosters the show has. He's a real class act.

Not to mention both are quite dark when they want to despite their odd exteriors, although the way they will go back and forth in the insults would be epic!
