The fact that 6 days before she was due to be back on the ward, the police became involved means that there was a desperate rush from the doctors, who were essentially putting their careers on the line, to stop her before another baby was murdered. Yes. There was proof. The first baby had air injected into him/her...discovered on autopsy. The second had INSULIN injected. Revealed at autopsy...these were not 'mystery' deaths..not caught...red flags went up IMMEDIATELY - AND THE FIRST TWO TIMES- ,Lucy was the common denominator, as she would be with the other attacks/murders. Are you aware it was the trust that called the police in the end? Not this Doctor or any of the other six Doctors? They did not report it to a regulatory body (nmc) outside of the trust. They did not go to the media. If the trust (under new leadership) did not call the police it could still be happening. Confused as to how Dr Ravi is a hero? Hospital Administrators were warned over and over again that other staff were suspicious of her and infants deaths, but they refused to investigate because if they found out it was true, it would mean lawsuits and bad press for the hospital, so they quietly fired her. Interestingly a year on we know this "person" was lying through his back teeth. What he stated during Lucy Letby's grievance procedure against him was that he had no reason to believe she had done anything wrong and he only wanted her to have time away from the ward because she had had some very traumatic experiences. In court he said that he had seen Lucy Letby virtually in the act of harming a baby and this was burned into his memory. Both statements cannot be true since both were made after the event he claimed to witness. People should also be aware that there were over 100 malpractice suits underway but they were discontinued once a "murderer" had been found.

You have to remember that there was no definite evidence at that time so there will have been a lot of uncertainty and what the executives were saying wasn't without merit i.e. all that the doctors had at that time was circumstantial so it's understandable that they didn't go all out, guns blazing.

UPDATE: About this supposed incident taken from the mail online on22.08.2024: The prosecution had argued that consultant Dr Ravi Jayaram had found Letby standing over Baby K's crib on February 17, 2016 at around 3.50am. He noticed that the baby's condition was rapidly deteriorating and that the vital breathing tube had been dislodged. According to the prosecution, door-swipe data proved that the nurse designated to care for the baby had left the unit at 3.47am. However, after the data was amended for the retrial, it showed the nurse had returned within moments. This meant that Letby was not alone at the time the prosecution originally argued she was.

Our grandson born with Cerebral Palsy in the Countess of Chester and Ravi followed his progress up to 16 years old thankfully this evil woman wasn't at the hospital at the time of his birth because I feel he would have been a target.

Even IF those consultants were overly cautious about any foul behaviour, the hospital had a duty of care to start a thorough investigation at the first alarm. How disgraceful to have exposed those doctors to such alarming and stressful reactions from the administrators. For shame on them. Dr Ravi you are a hero.

Dr Jayaram has a special quality that sets him apart: Integrity. Well done Dr for fighting for the lives of children, despite the opposing management who had self-interest as their priority. We need more doctors like him and less management like them. I hope those managers pay a heavy price for their actions.

The very fact that hospital admin didn't believe a doctor who had no reason to accuse a nurse is beyond understanding. I agree that all who ignored the warnings and aggressively reprimanded the doctors should also be charged. My god this woman is pure evil and so were the administrators. They only cared about money and likely their race.

But, on the other hand. You can see how it might look like 2 doctors arguing that, it couldn’t possibly be their fault. Maybe trying to find a scape goat… it could look that way from the outside. Ultimately, I think this issue highlights that there is a hierarchy in decision making that super-cedes clinical acumen and experience, which unfortunately has proved gravely detrimental

I wonder why the former Chief Executive and Medical Director would side with Lucie Letby, ignore complaints from this Consultant, blindly defend Lucie, then say he is a bully and he should apologise to Lucie? This question is rhetorical. We all know what was at play here! The Chief Executive and Medical Director should never get jobs in the NHS again! They are also to blame for the deaths and harm to 17 defenseless babies - so much for the protecting the Trust's reputation.

It's sadly part of a culture that permeates so many professions and institutions. Just look at the state of the metropolitan police. The first instinct of these people is to put the organisation's reputation above anything else.
