Some nice shots of the fry there bro, cool. Thanks. I've a bit of experience breeding various apistos and I've found that if you are going to separate the fry from the mother, it's best leaving it a few days. she does a great job of getting them started. I breed them in small tanks so the food I put in is never far away. When separating them, I find that the best thing to do is to get them out of sight of the mother. it stresses her seeing them and not being able to get to them. You may think she is still satisfying her maternal urges, but she is in fact stressing out that she can't get to them. I'd put them in another tank/tub away from her altogether. You are right to allow her to regain breeding condition, but just taking the male away is better, in my opinion. Just my tuppence worth. Love your vids bro. Inspirational to say the least!

Hey great video mate, I have been watching your videos and have been inspired! I have convinced the wife to let me put 2 tanks in the garage and move my red jewels and bristlenose out of the 4ft community tank. Both have bred but haven't last due to the circle of life. I've had fish for about 20 years and as I said, your videos have inspired me to do more. Thinking I may do some set up vids as well. Pretty inspiring and exciting.

I agree I have two different species of apistogramma and they seem unusually smart. So why take the fry away from the mother? I only remove the male and I've never had any problems. My most current brood I have had the female with her fry for over a month now with no problems. Keep the female well fed and fry well fed no problems for me yet.

KZbin has many videos on making infusoria. It's easier than hatching brine shrimp, which is basic.

Hello and thank you for your channel. you are a "young" inspiration. I am curious, I have so much issue to raise and develop an infusoria colony (vital for most of the young small frys). I see in this video that you took a "scoop" in your infusoria colony. Could you make a step by step video about infusoria?? I do not know if it is lighting/temperature/starter kit or else, but I am a known failure regarding infusoria and it is limiting my ability to raise my frys. Can you help?

The first days after free swimming, i feed small fishes with with microworms, bananaworms and infusoria.I never feed brine shrimp. Artemia ist shurely an easy way to feed but probably not the best way.And I think, the wiggly worms attract more their hunting-instincts. Mostly i feed a mixture from dry food, infusoria and microworms. It`s just my theory. Tryed to mimic natural food sources.Never "proved" it but I had good survival rates.😉

Hi, was just wondering what temperature should i keep rams and neon tetras in as I researched and it says 29-30 degrees C for rams but max temp for neon 27 degrees C.
@apss57363 жыл бұрын
Depends some rams can tolerate cooler temperatures than others and I would see if keeping the tank at about 82 degrees Fahrenheit would work . It would help if you knew the temperature they were raised in

You also need to give the parents multiple generations of fry to learn how to parent. No human parent knows what they're doing on the first try, and fish don't either. This is especially true if they haven't been raised by their parents or seen their parents raising fry.

Gave it a thumbs down because the stache should be your own choice. When it comes to green water and all of the microfauna in it, how cold can it get before the infusoria and such die off? I have a vat that has been out in the sun, but it has gotten very cold but not yet freezing. Will it still be good for fry if I bring it inside in buckets?
