The reason why I decided to become a certified Stringer is so I can save time and money trying different strings and stringing when I want. These tests are great for reference, but ultimately, you have to try all these strings for yourself. That's the only way you'll know. Any of these strings would feel different in different racquets, different tensions, gauges, colours etc. If you want to find the right string for you, you'll have to try a lot of strings, I'm talking several types, even the same ones in different gauges, until you have found your string. I would recommend, if you're playing in a country like where I'm from, Ireland, where it rains a lot and where as consequence most tennis courts are synthetic grass to make the water sink faster and be able to play when wet, to have a second raquet strung 1-2 pounds lower to compensate for the heavy wet balls and slow game when playing in a damped/wet court.
@bowsershark3 жыл бұрын
I have had great success after finding out the right tension for me and RPM Blast. But, I had to cut 2 string jobs out to find my playability tension. Now, I also use it on the mains and a nylon or synthetic on the crosses.

I play with 17 g Cyclone and 17 g X one Biphase and it feels like heaven. I do change the tension a little bit depending on the temperature but for the most part I would agree with you guys. Cyclone is cheap and tension maintenance is much better than RPM Blast or even Yonex Poly Tour Spin. I still play with the Yonex Poly tour spin with the X one Biphase or NXT for my cross.

Cyclone is a very good string it used to be my goto string until I found my current Top Secret co-poly. In my opinion a player must find a perfect racket first, then a perfect string to go with it. After that make sure to add a dampener then nice replacement grip w/ an overgrip and you've covered almost everything racket wise.

Cyclone ALL DAY. Been using it for years and it just works great wherever you put it. Mains, crosses, full bed; it's all good. Currently have it in my crosses with pro's pro hexaforce in the mains. Lovely set up.

cyclone is the best string. Its way better than everything and don't get why the industry doesn't think so as well. Good for price but leave me perplexed.
@millionairejh7 жыл бұрын
i dont know if its just me, but the weight of the strings is a big factor to me and i find that many reviews and descriptions never even mention it. I have used both strings the cyclone is much more stiff but its also a heavier string and i feel like i get more plow through with it. If you someone who is sensitive about your racket balance like i am, this is something to take into consideration.

great review! how would you compare cyclone with solinco confidential? thanks!
@tenniswarehouse Жыл бұрын
I would say Cyclone has a bit more pocketing and also a bit easier energy return or pop, especially once it is played with a couple of hours. Confidential feels a bit more controlled or slightly less energy return, and also seems to hold its tension slightly better over time. Both offer great access to spin, and in general have a high level of control. Troy, TW

@tenniswarehouse7 жыл бұрын
About 8 hours of on court time. I typically hit for an hour a day M-F and take weekends off from tennis, but I'm also testing many different racquets, strings and shoes each week so getting an exact hour count is tough. Time in the racquet is also important for me with polys because they lose tension even when just sitting. If a poly still feels good in my racquets heading into a third week then I'm pretty stoked. Cheers, Chris, TW.

I always hate when people say strings like rpm have no power, but rafa can use it and hit the ball 110 mph on his forehand lol. I get we're not all rafa, but I think it's important to point out you can still generate a lot of power, especially more advanced players.
@tenniswarehouse7 жыл бұрын
@ Chris Nyholm, The strings themselves have very low power which allows more experienced players (like Rafa) to swing extremely hard and impart their own power on the ball. With all that racquet head speed comes the ability to spin the ball as well. In previous generations where players used more powerful strings like natural gut, they had to have some restraint and couldn't swing as hard as they do now because the ball would sail on them and go long. You're right, players are certainly able to hit with lots of power (arguably more power than ever) with polyester strings like RPM Blast, but it is due in part to the low-powered nature of the string. Also, If a player does not have the swing speed to utilize the spin potential of a string like this, they will find it to be extremely low powered compared to other softer strings on the market like multifilaments, synthetic gut and natural gut. Andy, TW

Whats the biggest diffrence between RMP Blast and The string Topspin (the black one).
@tenniswarehouse7 жыл бұрын
@pontus Svensson, The Topspin Cyber Whirl has a five-sided profile, whereas the RPM Blast has an eight-sided profile. Performance wise, the Cyber Whirl is softer, and holds tension better over time. The RPM Blast has a firmer/crisper feel to it. Both have similar levels of power/control, and spin-potential. I would go with the Cyber Whirl, being that anytime I can get a bit more comfort from a poly string, and better tension maintenance, then it's the better option for me, and cheaper in this case. Troy, TW

I usually string Babolat RPM 17 at 54lbs. It usually feels better after it lost tension (2 weeks later or longer). Red Volkl Cyclone Tour 17 looks rly good and at a great price. But people tell me it should be at a lower tension. I use the original (RED) Pure Strike 16x19. I'm imagining something like 49lbs. I like a low tension control/spin poly. Is that something you would recommend?
@tenniswarehouse7 жыл бұрын
@ BestxMusic, I'd actually suggest stringing Cyclone Tour higher than what you string RPM Blast at. Cyclone Tour is a much softer and more powerful string, so going lower with the tension will be a dramatic change in how your stringbed will perform. I'd suggest trying it at 55 lbs and seeing what you think. Andy, TW

Which is better the Volkl Cyclone vs Head Sonic Pro vs Head Lynx string in terms of power, spin, durability and playability, tension loss?
@tenniswarehouse6 жыл бұрын
@Michael Nguyen, The Lynx is pretty comfortable for a co-poly, as well as Sonic Pro. Cyclone is a bit firmer feeling, but provides easier access to spin than the other two. Tension maintenance is about the same between cyclone, and Lynx, whereas Sonic Pro drops off tension more quickly. I would say that power is pretty similar between the three strings. Troy, TW
