@ MyychIll, 18g is thinner than 16g. The thinner the string, typically the better ball feel you have, the more spin you can produce, and the more comfortable it is. The thicker gauge provides you with more durability and a slightly stiffer stringbed that offers more control. Andy, TW

@Raghuram Koganti, For starters, Cyclone is "shaped" but not "textured", meaning that it has seven sides (not round). Textured strings have notches in the string surface that make for a softer-feeling and more spin-friendly stringbed. Cyclone will play great though, but I think you'll find a similar feel in terms of arm-friendliness compared to your Pro Line Evolution. Increasing the tension a little bit (say 48 lbs?) will give you a bit more control, but if you'd really like to try a textured string, I recommend Kirschbaum Spiky Shark. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ 1vinurame, Those are two of my favorite co-polys on the market, and they play fairly similar to each other. Cyclone will feel a little crisper and stiffer, and RPM will be a little "springier" feeling as it slides across the stringbed at impact. The power and spin levels will be very similar. I'd recommend going with the same (55) tension that you are used to. Enjoy! Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ Stimpy Gilford, The tension maintenance for Cyclone is above average for a polyester string, and the playability will last along with it. It won't be exceptional like Luxilon 4G in that aspect, but it's better than a lot of other polys. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ Philipp Lamprecht, Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 would be my suggestion. It's what you're looking for. It plays similar to Cyclone but is a touch softer and livelier. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ Joe McCann, With an 18 gauge, you'll most likely get less than a month of durability. However, it's hard to tell exactly how long a string will last for someone because it depends on so many different factors. Andy, TW

@ Ben Johnson, Adrenaline will feel a bit more dampened and also livelier than Cyclone, which will be crisper and more controlled. Cyclone will have a bit more spin potential as well. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ Sam Lee, The spin potential for both strings is great, but I found that since original Cyclone doesn't offer as much power, it allows you to swing a little faster and thus generate more spin. Cyclone Tour will have a livelier response and a softer feel, but you can't swing quite as fast with it and still maintain control. Andy, TW

@ Alberto Silva, The RDiS 100 Mid strung up with Cyclone was my set up for a good part of my time on the pro tour, so I personally love how that plays. I strung it between 50-52 lbs and I thought it provided plenty of comfort, spin and control. The RDiS will be more solid feeling than the PSL because it's has some more weight in the hoop, but the PSL will be easier to swing. The RDiS will be a little crisper and stiffer feeling compared to the soft, plush PSL. Andy, TW

@ Jonathan Luk, You are going to feel more whatever string you put in the mains. If you want the hybrid to feel more like a poly, put the Cyclone in the mains. If you want it to feel more like a multifilament, put the Cyclone in the crosses. Tecnifibre NRG2 or Babolat XCel are two great strings to try in a hybrid. They are very soft, comfortable, and replicate the feel of natural gut. Andy. TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ edclwo, I would suggest trying it at the same tension that you are used to first, and then see what you think. After trying it, you may find you'll want to drop the tension a couple of pounds in order to maintain enough comfort for your arm. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse12 жыл бұрын
Phil, Not a huge difference, but the 17g will be a little more comfortable and spin friendly. At the same time you're sacrificing a bit of control and durability with the thinner gauge. They play quite similar though. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse12 жыл бұрын
I was at 52lbs in the PB10 Mid with this string and found that to be a great set up. That is a big jump for you to make, but I suggest getting in the upper 40s, say 48lbs, to get some added control. Part of the issue with low tensions is it leads to a higher launch angle on a topspin shot so the player finds the ball going long and with a loopier trajectory. I tend to find that goes away above 45lbs and strangely becomes more controllable again when under 35lbs. Chris, TW
@tenniswarehouse12 жыл бұрын
Phil, Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 is a very similar string that is also a great value. That would be an excellent one to try, as both Cyclone at BHB7 are two of my favorites out there. Andy, TW

@ Dominic Tran, The differences will be slight, but the main difference would be the stiffness. The pink and yellow are fairly similar, but the black will feel the stiffest, offering the most control out of all of them. However, remember this difference will be slight, not drastic. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ ThePParadigm, A polyester string like Cyclone is going to be much stiffer and lower-powered than most common strings, like synthetic gut. It's recommended that you string it at a lower tension in order to provide enough comfort and playability. We'd recommend stringing a poly at 52-54 lbs at first and then see what you think. Andy, TW

@ chanjingli, The different Luxilon strings play differently from one another, but Cyclone will play most similar to ALU Power Spin. We have always considered Cyclone to be one of the best values on the string market because you get almost (if not the same) level of playability as you get with high-end strings at only half the price. Cyclone is a great string that definitely stacks up against the best. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ Alberto Silva, You'll get a slight drop in control, but you'll get a boost in comfort, power and playability. Try dropping your tension and see what you think of it. You might like it! Andy, TW

@ Kyle Molhusen, The Tour version is twisted during production along with being shaped (like Cyclone), and it's made with softer material. There should be more spin, power and comfort with the Tour version, and more control and durability from original Cyclone. Andy, TW

@ Øyvind Pernell Haugen, BHBR will play a little stiffer and lower-powered compared to Cyclone which is a little livelier. BHBR will also feel a bit more muted whereas Cyclone will be crisper. @tenniswarehouse12 жыл бұрын
@Bballwiz24, Cyclone and RPM Blast are very similar strings. They are both low powered, slightly stiff and dead, but offer excellent access to spin. Though they are stiff, they are both still quite comfortable. I found the RPM to be slightly more comfortable and have a little more lively of a string bed, but for the price it's tough to beat the value of the Cyclone. You can't go wrong with both! Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ mile_high_2, Cyclone and Cyclone Tour are both polyester strings, which are pretty different than the nylon synthetic gut that you're used to. It will feel stiffer and lower-powered, but it will give you more durability, control and access to spin. I would recommend going with Cyclone Tour out of the two because, compared to other polys, it's very soft and comfortable. Try stringing it at 56 lbs to get a similar feel and power level to your synthetic gut. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse11 жыл бұрын
@ MrNihaoma11, Cyclone will offer a slightly more controlled feel compared to ALU Rough. ALU Rough will bite into the ball a little more with its textured surface, but doesn't have the same touch and feel as Cyclone. Both will offer tons of spin and a nice blend of power and control. I'd give the slight edge to Cyclone overall. Andy, TW

@ scorpions20000, Cyclone is a little softer and more powerful than both Black Code and Pro Line 2, so I think it's going to give you the response you are looking for. Cyclone will give you a lot more ball grab and spin compared to the Pro Line 2. Adjust your tension based on your desired power level. If you're liking the amount of power you are getting now, string it again at 59 lbs. For more power, go 2 pounds lower. For more control, go 2 pounds higher. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse12 жыл бұрын
Kyle, Reducing the tension would definitely help a bit. You could also try using a hybrid string setup, mixing the Black Widow with a softer multifilament or natural gut to get a little more comfort. Going to the 17g would also help, making the stringbed less stiff. Hope those ideas help! Andy, TW

Yes. It will offer lots of control and spin to go with the power from the racquet. Other strings I'd recommend along with Cyclone would be RPM Blast, Dunlop Black Widow, Luxilon ALU Power, Solinco Tour Bite and Kirschbaum Pro Line Evolution. I would start at 53lbs. Go higher for more control, lower if you need more power/comfort. Chris, TW

@ richman1703, Tighter tension restricts string movement, which contributes to the string's durability. Higher tensions will have slightly better durability than lower tensions, but it shouldn't make THAT big of a difference. Andy, TW
@tenniswarehouse12 жыл бұрын
I would start right in the middle of the recommended tension range of your racquet. If you find you need more control, you can up the tension a couple of pounds, but with Cyclone you should find you are getting lots of control and spin. If anything, you are likely to move lower in tension and that will help improve comfort as all polys a fairly stiff playing as a rule. The downside to higher tensions with a poly is comfort as the strings will become unforgiving on off center shots. Chris, TW

@Tommie22x, The black color plays the softest, as the colored coating they use makes the string just slightly stiffer. As far as gauges, I typically say the thinner the better, but that's my own personal opinion. As you go thinner, you lose durability and control, but gain comfort and spin. I've always liked a thinner string myself, so I prefer the 17g or 18g. Andy, TW

I think you'd like it. Andy, TW

@SuperTennisManiac, Try the Cyclone at 55 lbs, and you'll find it will give you a much less powerful response than your hybrid setup. See what you think of the feel, and if you like the hybrid feel more but want more control, try the hybrid again at a higher tension (58 lbs). Andy, TW

I string at 52lbs as I find it gives me a nice combo of spin and control at a comfortable tension. RPM Blast is slightly firmer playing and lower powered for me so I can string it down into the higher 40s and typically go around 48lbs in the Prestige MP with that string. I feel like I can swing very fast with both and that makes both strings very spin-friendly. I get perhaps just a tad more bite out of RPM Blast. but I happy with both for spin. Chris, TW
