Baby Bear Beanie Crochet Pattern Tutorial

Make a newborn Baby Bear Crochet Beanie with this video tutorial by Crochet It Creations. Or make a Basic Newborn Beanie without adding the Bear Ears.

Pattern uses Red Heart Armore Yarn which is a "light" medium #4 weight yarn. If using a different yarn, make a gauge swatch first. You may need to adjust your hook size. Gauge for 4” square = 16 hdc x 9 rows

Other materials needed are an H 5.0mm Crochet Hook, scissors, tapestry needle, and stitch markers.
Stitches Used/Abbreviations (US Terms)
HDC - Half Double Crochet
SC - Single Crochet
FPHDC - Front Post Half Double Crochet
BPHDC - Back Post Half Double Crochet
Join - Slip Stitch to First Stitch
Beanie is worked in the round from the top down. You will not be joining, but working in a spiral using a stitch marker to mark the last stitch from each row. Post stitches are used at the bottom for added stretch and texture.
Leave as a basic beanie or make and sew on the cute little bear ears.

Y’all, there’s a link to the pattern in the description box. If she’s moving too fast for you, simply pause the video. If you don’t know how to do a particular stitch, find a tutorial and learn it. If your hat is too small or too big check your yarn, hook, and stitch sizes.

I’m kind of confused, on the first ear, after you finished row 4, which is to do 1 SC in each stitch, you then say you’re starting on row 3! Can you please explain? Thank you! Waiting on your answer so I can continue with my hat!

Kym Bartley, what I did was I just continued row 4 with 1SC (I’m pretty sure it was row four, I counted) and then I crocheted two more rows of 1SC in each stitch. I wasn’t following the pattern 100% but the ear turned out fine. Hope this helped. 🤞🏻😊

I keep messing up on row three on the ears, I'm confused of the pattern when starting as 1 sc each for the first two stitches then 2 sc in the third stitch then switching the pattern to 1 sc then 2 sc in the other stitches till you reach the last two stitches to sc each of those but I keep ending with three last stitches after my last 2 sc on the 9th stitch and I recounted my last row of stitches which was 12 but it keeps turning out wrong, Someone heeeeelppp

You are not very clear on your instructions. Do you have them printed?

This is definitely not for beginners. It was tricky to follow as you're explanations do not match what you are doing sometimes. You also have clips that probably should've been cut out: when you are doing the ears, on row three, once you're done with row three you seem unsure as you recount the stitches, then it skips to a new clip that starts row three over. I was able to follow it because I am experienced, but I can see why some people in the comments are getting stuck. Just make sure you re-watch your video before you post it :)
