Love those old Santa Fe units - red and silver, and then blue and yellow.

Awesome vid! Living in south Texas those SP units remind me of my childhood, and the yellow and blue Santa Fe engines were my absolute favorite!

Love the term trailer train, which was long before the intermodal container trains we see today!

as far as I know, at this point it was BNSF on paper, revenue from both lines was shared, but the operations hadn't yet been merged, so in a way it was still Santa Fe until two months later, when operational structures were merged and the BN&SF Railway ran it's first train on New Years Day 1997

Brand New Santa Fe, or Bigger Newer Santa Fe. My husband is now retired electrician for BN/BNSF.

When the bridge opens and the trains have to wait, they say they're 'boated'. It was better before the merger when there was more than just intermodal trains. There's lots of trains now, but pretty boring with 95% GE's that all look the same.

bcrnfan Agreed! That's why most of my "today" videos are of regional and shortline railroads that are kind of "old school".
