To me, thats the real talent of the late great John Singleton. It shows in the details of the story, those little spaces that everyone can relate. The comments are hilarious but there’s an element I don’t see mentioned here. No diss, since I barely remember this flick. But… There was an element of respect in his eyes, even as Melvin and his mom disappeared into that room. Nobody wants to think of their mom doing what she did to make them in the first place. But… Everybody wants to see their mom happy. And she was. It takes a strong man, with real heart to balance those two emotions.
