My 9 month old crawls like this and she also never had issues rolling over she rolls fast as hell both ways and gets into sitting position by herself ! Kids are in fact different!
@movementlesson11 ай бұрын
If any child is doing this, their development is not optimal. And the quality of the crawl makes a difference too. This was just one video review on one legged crawling, and you are right the next baby's video review would be slightly different based on where there is a break down in the movement structure. For a child to be come a star athlete or be a master performer in the arts, it's going to be very difficult to achieve such things, if the child has a crawl like this. Kids are in fact different, but different doesn't mean good. Children communicate their needs through movement and one legged crawling is not a good movement.

Sharing my experience! At first I had no worries and then this video really scared me and I truly thought something could be wrong with my baby. Nope. He was on time for everything. He was able to come up from laying down no problem. All the things. He just preferred crawling this way (never crawled normally) because he moved on our slippery floors WAY faster and he could hold something in his hand while crawling. He walked holding onto furniture from 9 months (this is why his doctor had ZERO concern about his crawling). Started walking a bit at 11 months. Fully walking just before turning 12 months.

You can read this and "wait and see" if your baby is the same. That being said if you are reading this and still feeling worried sick about your child and you have for some time, it's likely you will not have the same experience. The big thing you need to look at is the whole of your child's development. You can know right away if you need to be worried or not if you look at my development charts for optimal development and my warning charts for signs of non-optimal development - www.movementlesson.academy/baby-classes-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-months-old.

Exactly! She is trying to scare parents into believing something is wrong with their children rather than state that their may or may not be something wrong with children who do not do what she says. It’s a matter of fact statement saying if your child doesn’t crawl properly they have developmental issues. It’s asinine.
@movementlesson8 ай бұрын
Developmental issues will really depend on if you have other compounding factors coming into play with the crawl. The poor quality of the crawl is just an indicator that you want to be more purposeful in helping your child's development be optimal. My message is one of hope and proactive care. If a parent really wants to know if they should be worried, they need to check the charts. Any parent can check them out. If you don't need to be proactive about your child's optimal development, you will know based off my charts. Check them out here - www.movementlesson.academy/baby-classes-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-months-old. You have permission to ignore my challenge, but no one is speaking up for the children, except me. Do it, ignore, the warning signs of non-optimal development (does it always mean delays? No, but it is an indicator that the development IS NOT OPTIMAL!) I am not one for hoping the future is okay, I want parents to know their child's future is okay. And if its not, they know NOW so they can do something NOW about it and create an optimal future for their child NOW.

It's true, a child's crawl does indicate the quality of their development. A 3 legged crawl is not optimal development. A parent shouldn't be satisfied with that. I know every parent wants their child do have the best development, and I teach you how to recognizing when the best movements are not happening in a child and that you can do something about it. A parents worries should never be ignored or discredited when they want the best for their child like I want the best.

This is incorrect. Baby is standing, rolled over and backwards by 6 months, did plenty of tummy time. This is all her opinion.
@movementlesson9 ай бұрын
This is not an opinion it was a specific movement evaluation for a child. This is the truth about how this particular child's movements were and were not happening. Every child will have a unique evaluation as to why their body is doing a one legged craw. One legged crawling is not optimal. How concerned should a parent be if they have this, that really depends on what else is going on in the body. The one legged crawl can be a simple movement glich, or it can be something more serious. While you feel like you are having a good experience with your child, too many are coming to me, and they are a lot bigger problems completely being ignored by professionals. We don't ignore warning signs, we are proactive and create optimal movement for every child. Our message is hope.

My daughter is 26 years old. I had NO IDEA this was ever an "issue". She always crawled like this. Only like this. She was very advanced. Started crawling at 5 and half months, walking at 9 and a half months. Always ahead of schedule for mobile skills as well as verbal.
@movementlesson Жыл бұрын
There are cases where a child can crawl like this and be advanced but that is more the exception than the rule. Your child has the rotational responses available that are allowing her to compensate for a movement deviation. The less rotational responses a child has the less compensation skills can happen and the higher the risk the child is for developmental dysfunction. If your daughter always crawled like this, it means that she has room for more optimal development function which gives the opportunity to help make anything possible in her future.

I have a 19 year old that never crawled, I have a 17 year old that didn't want to crawl so he would alternate which leg he crawled with and absolutely no issues. My 7 month old baby has been crawling since 5 months old alternating on which foot he favors because he don't want to. All of my kids met or exceeded milestone markers. My 7 month old is already walking and absolutely no concern from his pediatrician to anything that you talked about in your video. Everyone is different. Some people do have issues and this is a marker for some but not for all.
@movementlesson9 ай бұрын
While in your case and in many cases you can get a functioning adult despite the missed or poor quality performance of a milestone. It's because that child has high quality rotational movements that are allowing for compensating functions. Everyone is different, but every parent should understand why and should evaluate the quality of their child's crawling milestone. You saying your children are "fine" and with "no issues" is relative to your perspective and what you understand about development. A child that skips crawling did not have the experience of optimal development. Baby's don't choose to crawl weird if there is only one way they can crawl. Every parent can help their child's development be better, different, and new. Any parent can take the "wait and see" approach and hope they have an outcome like yours. It's possible. At the same time, your situation is becoming an exception. Many children presenting with crawling difficulties are not okay and there are many other compounding factors that creating developmental delays when they don't need to be there. I know this because these children end up in my clinic. The parents are frustrated because they were told their baby was "fine" and now months have gone by and their child is really struggling with progressing in development. For the parent that want's to be proactive and not take chances and make sure their child has every future possibility available to them, then we teach you how to do that at Movement Lesson.

My 10 month old has vision issues and she crawls like this. She tilts her head to the side too. Lol, she goes back to to see the specialist in 2 weeks to see what they're going to do about her eyes. Her pediatrician says that it may just be weak muscles behind the eye. She's seen so many babies with the same issue. These babies also started crawling late and crawled just like my daughter. I'm so glad I found this video because I was telling my husband that she crawls weird and he said she's fine, every baby just starts out different. 😐 Of course I had to google it and found that there could be an underlying issue.
@movementlesson Жыл бұрын
Whether a baby is typical or atypical and crawling like this, it is a sign that their movement and development is not optimal. And that's what I want for every child is optimal. In the majority of cases, when you have a baby doing this, it is a sign that something is off with their development and it's a huge hinderance to their development. There are some cases were a child can crawl like this and they end up doing very well in life, but what people are not looking at is the rotational movements that was available to the child that succeeded is not available to the child that is not succeeding. Their poor attention span in school or in public is blamed on anything but the poor development that was manifesting. Every child is different, but a child crawling like this shouldn't be allowed to miss out on developmental experiences and they are because everyone says "it's okay" if a baby crawls like this. For optimal development, no it is not! I am glad you are being persistent. Your pediatrician could be right, but that means your child is not experiencing optimal development because of it, and the crawling is proof of that. Some videos say there are seven types of crawling. That may be true but there is only one type of crawling that indicates a child is on a path of optimal development, and crawling with one leg out is NOT IT. I would love to see a video of your child to further direct you on your journey for her optimal development. Get a free movement review in my facebook group, facebook.com/groups/MovementLessonParentsPractitioners. I went off a little, but it is such a disservice to you and your child. People are trying to pacify you when you have valid concerns. I present solutions to you to work with your baby's optimal development and give her developmental experiences that she is missing out on.

My daughter just started crawling and crawls like this. She got plenty of tummy time. Grabbed both her feet and can sit up from lying on her back without getting on her stomach first. Also doesn’t appear to favor one side and her vision is good. Had to stop her from trying to pick up an ant today. Getting conflicting information some say it’s normal and some say it’s cause for concern
@movementlesson2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are getting conflicting information. Many say it's not a cause for concern because so many do it, and they turn out "fine." The question is, what is "fine?" Is your child going to Harvard? Or are you going to see them struggling in school? So many do not turn out "fine" and this was an early warning sign along with others. Children are diagnosed with ADD, Sensory Disorder, and the like and people have no idea why, but when a child can't move with milestone momentum, these disorders are the consequences. The new CDC guidelines do not give you the tools to be proactive when your child is manifesting early warning signs for developmental dysfunction and they are saying your child is "fine," when the reality is, most children doing the one legged crawl will not turn out "fine." The best thing to do is get your child seen by a Rotational Movement Specialist, and then they can tell if you should or should not be worried. I am a Rotational Movement Specialist and you can get a free movement review by posting a video of your child on my Facebook Group Movement Lesson for Parents and Practitioners, facebook.com/groups/MovementLessonParentsPractitioners

I’m worried, my baby just started crawling like this! I’m a first time mom. At first I kind of blowed it off but after doing my research I’m learning it could be a cause for concern. He started getting on all 4s about 6 1/2 months. By 7 months he was crawling it was very wobbly and slow also coming up on his feet a lot like an elevated plank but he got better as time went still pretty slow. But he also by the end of 6 months discovered using his surroundings to stand which he prefers over crawling anyway. He is now ending 8 months and just started to crawl with one leg which helps him go super fast one day when he was trying to keep up with my 2 year old niece. He is also still pulling to standing position and grabbing for me in standing position. He also likes to walk around the table very fast while holding of course. He just has so many changes the chart you showed is kind of hard for me to differentiate but I would like help.

Can we have any updates from people who were affected by the scaremongering in this video? I think it’s pretty horrid language used to say that this type of crawl means the child will end up with issues down the line. Parents are vulnerable emotionally and to place fear into them for their child’s well-being isn’t the right vibe for me. Then again, how else would you make money…
@movementlesson2 ай бұрын
Lots of parents go into my Facebook group and they give updates there as they get movement reviews and put into practice to tools of optimizing their child's development. You can ask for updates there and get responses- facebook.com/groups/MovementLessonParentsPractitioners. This type of crawl is not optimal development and child that crawls like this without any intervention will have problems in the future minor or major depending on the other things that are coming into play and the stimulation or the lack thereof the child is getting. No one else is trying to help parents in this vulnerable state. All they are getting is "oh you worry to much, your kid will be fine," "give it some time, just let it happen when your baby is ready," and so on. My point is that if a baby is not easily going into that four point crawl by 8 months old optimal is not happening. "Fine" is considered to be anything from 8 months to well over a year old and that is not right. A parent is losing precious time, being told that their baby is fine, when optimal is not happening in their system. Can a baby turn out "okay" and be a functional adult, yes, but optimal functioning will never happening for that person unless the skillsets of optimal crawling are put into their system. If you are looking at an adult and saying, "oh their lazy, or they just don't have that drive to aspire for more." 99.9 percent of the people that is not going to be true. It's not that they don't have the drive, its that they don't have the movement foundations to have the drive. I am here to empower parents and to let them know of a better way. A parent can wait and see and maybe they will get "okay" but for the parent where "okay" is not even an option in that child's future and they need to be doing more now, that's what I am here for. I encourage every parent to get a FREE movement review to really gauge where their child is at. I can tell them is something is seriously going wrong in the system and the parent needs to be more proactively engaged in making development happen because it's not for that child. For the parent that has "okay" development, I can still tell them what to do to optimize the system and give the child the choice not to do something versus not even having the option to choose to do something. A parent can get everything they need for FREE on youtube or through the lives that I do on my Facebook group to optimize their child's system. It's a little more work on the parents part, where the paid courses are more direct and to the point to helping parents learn the process of movement and developmental optimization in the fastest way possible. I could be way expensive, but I am not because I have a world wide audience and my courses are aimed to help those who are willing to put in the work to help themselves. No parent should have to thousands and thousands of dollars to give their child optimal development experiences. Many do, they come to my clinic and I work on those children personally as well as teach the parent how to work on their child at home, but most don't come to my clinic. They can't come to my clinic for financial and medical reasons. For every parent I don't want finances to be a reason why they can't give their child the best development. I do need to charge some, but its hardly anything for the thousands of dollars worth of training that is available in my Optimal Development Program (old name is Fast Start Support Program - www.movementlesson.academy/fast-start). For the parents who have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on other programs and their child is still not thriving, they come to Movement Lesson, actually take the time to do the exercises and put in consistent work, they see more progress in their child in a matter of hours and weeks than all the years combined of all previous modalities done with their child. I don't do what I do for money, I do what I do for the sake of the child and the parents sanity. No one likes the guilt of not doing enough or having so much time lost when everything they needed to give their child the best developmental experiences was right at their finger tips. Some parents don't find movement lesson until their child is much older and they feel bad that they didn't find it sooner, but to those parents I tell them that optimal development can happen for their child now if they put in the time, effort, and consistency to implement the programs. Movement lesson allows every parent to put in the first optimal movements of birth and every second after that. Movement lesson allows a parent to recognize if future milestone movements are missing and get those going in the system now. To every parent and professional, NEVER ever EVER PACIFY a parents concerns when they are about their child's development. Give them to tools to do something about their concerns, to evaluate the development. To change the development if they are willing to put in the time, effort, and consistency needed to optimize their child's development system. I do that by teaching parents what optimal development is and then how to put optimal development into the body with a movement lessons. My Optimal Development Program is 60 days FREE so for the parent who truly can't afford it can understand optimal development, learn how to optimize it, and keep optimizing it, even if they have to cancel their subscription. We offer so much value and additional support for those who can continue the subscription, but every parent needs to know the foundations of development and how to optimize it without spending a dime. Your son may have been "fine" but that is not something you can say to another parent because their baby may not be "fine". These warning signs should be taken seriously. I can't tell you the countless parents I have worked with who were told, "My baby did that, your's is fine." Best case the baby is fine, but you could be giving false hope. Parents are frustrated being told their baby is fine when they feel like something is wrong. They need solutions on how to address the problems they are seeing, not "you baby is fine." The baby is not fine if they have a one-legged crawl. Plus the point of the video is to point out signs of movement deviations and there could be other reasons that what I mention of why a baby is doing a one-legged crawl. A one-legged crawl is a huge movement deviation. Does it mean that the child can't develop into a star athlete, no. The baby can have a very successful future. The baby can also have a very frustrating future. The best thing for a parent to do is get a free movement review in the Facebook Group Movement Lesson for Parents and Practitioners. It's important to note if a child doing a one-legged crawl has other movement deviations. The more movement deviations the higher risk that baby has at becoming special needs. I want to avoid that situation as much as possible for parents. So telling another parent that their baby is "fine" because yours turned out "fine" gives that parents a false sense of security, and is a huge disfavor to the child not getting the help they need to get back on track with milestone momentum.

You are using fear mongering tactics by trying to say this isn’t normal and insinuating that people who are telling you their children do this and are fine are “one offs.” Why would you want to scare parents into thinking something is wrong with their children? My son got tummy time grabs both feet and crawls like this sometimes. What I have noticed is he has difficulty getting the other leg from around the other. However it’s not consistent and I have also seen him crawl “normally”. Every child is different and you should probably rethink your methods of how you broach subjects before making broad statements.

Parents are sick of hearing that they are worrying about nothing, and then 12 months, 18 months, 3 years down the road they are chastised for not doing something sooner. If a parent has a child that is one legged crawling and they want to know if they should be worried, take a look at my charts and see if your child is meeting their milestones or if your child is manifesting many warning signs, not just one. So many parents tell me thank you for validating their worries and then teaching them how to optimize their child's development. www.movementlesson.academy/baby-classes-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-months-old

All in the name of making money, this media eeh😅 why is it that you think you are the only one right besides if you want to help children as you claim, why won't you give the steps to take in solving those issues but the next thing you will see is pay so and so $. It's the strategy to make money and some are falling for it😂

I give lots of steps on how to optimize the baby's development for free. I know I am right because I have worked on tens of thousands of babies, children, and adults from high end olympic athletes to the most severe special needs. I have much for free, steps on what to do, and how to understand the development process for optimal development, and I do free reviews on my facebook group - facebook.com/groups/MovementLessonParentsPractitioners to guide parents on simple movement glitches that can be worked on to optimize the development or to really prompt the parent to pursue medical interventions plus tools to optimize development while waiting for need medical assessments to get the baby further help. I do have paid content for parents, but I have plenty of parents who only use my free content and they have tons of success in optimizing their child's development.

Tell that to the thousands of parents who say, "I wish I would have found you sooner." Every child deserves optimal development. 3 legged crawling is a sign of non-optimal development. If you are okay with that, it's okay, but I like most parents want optimal development, not "okay" development.
