Wow those eggs crates. I definitely gonna switch from cardboard egg crates to styrofoam egg crates because it hold the water better without water damage on the egg crates and throughout time it get smelly and moldy from my experience so that why I change it when it needed

We house together right after hatching as well!

I HAVE noticed on the rare occasion, if left together, at around 1-2 months some aggression. This might be due to me feeding insects at around 3-4 weeks. We seperate at @ 1-1.5 months to avoid this. Hardly EVER have a missing tail. (thanks for watching)
@FlawlessCrestedGeckos2 жыл бұрын
@@SupremeGecko yes, that’s exactly what we do, housing them together at first has been so awesome for inducing that feeding response, but you have to be careful to keep an eye on them due to them nipping tails and being greedy with their bugs lol!

Love the video and information!! I am a beginner that HAS NOT started yet and plan to start small with a pair or trio. I live up in MN and my main question is heating. I seen you used a heat cord/wire. Where do you have the cable located in compared to the tubs? Is it touching the tubs? Living in MN I may have to heat my adults at parts of the year (or maybe all year round) as well. Would this way work as well? Especially if I keep them in tanks vs aquariums? And eventually in a rack system? Other KZbin videos say this type of "heating" doesn't work well for crested geckos. I plan to get the knowledge I need to be successful and watching your videos....you have the knowledge to answer these questions for me. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply!!!
@SupremeGecko2 жыл бұрын
I do use a heat cord and it is located directly behind the tubs. It might not work as well with larger enclosures but certainly works well for me with these small (up to 15 qt) tubs. If others are saying it will not work, we all have to keep an open mind to the circumstances, applications, and individual conditions.
@sibleywarrior072 жыл бұрын
@@SupremeGecko absolutely. Would you recommend heat tape/cord? Or having a small heater with a thermostat maybe set to 69-70, maybe even only in the winter time to maintain a 70-72 temp all year round? Last thing. You said the cord is directly behind. Is it touching or just giving off heat near it? Thank you so much for the feedback!!!
@SupremeGecko2 жыл бұрын
@@sibleywarrior07 It's touching and thus heating a small portion of the enclosure. For young, if you can keep the entire enclosure warmer, that is better.
@sibleywarrior072 жыл бұрын
@@SupremeGecko thank you!! I've reached out to few other breeders as well. One, newer, said he thought maybe heating the entire room with a space heater, especially in winter time to keep it around 70-72 all year round. Since we keep our AC around 72 and in winter our heat to only 66-68. In your opinion would crested geckos prefer their whole enclosure one temp, say 74-76 degrees. Versus a warm spot of 78-80 down to a cool spot of 70-74?
@SupremeGecko2 жыл бұрын
@@sibleywarrior07 I ALWAYS like to give animals a choice of temperatures so they can self regulate.
