I like this theory. It's the best explanation I've heard about Doc's sudden and uncharacteristic sacrifice.
@harryreddick35795 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's because Doc has always had a soft spot for him. Doc stands up for Baby when Baby's skill is questioned. I'm sure it's because Doc likes Baby and sees his love for the one he once loved in Deb and Baby and has a chance for redemption.
@brianna_r_larsen_4 жыл бұрын
I dont think it was out of nowhere... I think that doc really cared about him the whole time because even though doc threatened baby it was really just the easiest way to keep him around and I think that doc also related to what baby and deborah were going through... with his "I was in love once" line.
@L.K-193 жыл бұрын
Like the 2 previous comments Doc had a serious soft place for baby and raised him in some ways Plus there was a line in an elevator doc said “I was in love once” obviously it didn’t work out. And when Doc finds out about debrora he assumes it’s just a boy crush But when Baby shows up back to the place with Debreoa to pick up the tapes and baby was wanted doc realised that’s debreoa truely loves Baby to stick with him He realises baby has something doc never accomplished Yet justifiying his sacrifice
@Behemoth54553 жыл бұрын
Cinema wins said it best IMO, doc was once in love but he lost her due to his job and after baby goes on a date with debora, doc thinks it’s just a fling, but later in the movie when doc sees that they still together, he realises that they actually love eachother and so he helps baby
@lilsterss5 жыл бұрын
Well, now I gotta watch the whole movie over again.

I think that the reason that she is so attracted to Baby and that he is to her is just due to Wright stylised representation of young love. She is the only character who stands out in the 'crime world', which is why I don't think she is anything to do with Doc in the film.
@whipnchainbarbi3 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed the movie but it always bugged me she happened to be singing "baby" while walking by and the sudden change of heart to let them get away. This theory explains both of these very well.
@treygibson52925 жыл бұрын
The whole movie is kind of a satire on typical car chasing action movies. That’s why the dialogue is cheesy and the story isn’t hard to figure out but still it’s fun and good. I think her character just plays into that theme
@davidjames5795 жыл бұрын
I think there's similarities to Wright's buddy Tarantino's True Romance, in the way Alabama was a perfect find to Clarence (and ditto). And how their story played out ideally, amongst the gangster threat.
@Bluargh025 жыл бұрын
Yeah,... No. She's the reason he tried to escape. When you're in on a scheme to ceep someone in your group you'd be stupid to awake some desire for freedom in that person.

@@blakequick3099 Or more to the point, all Doc has to do is tell Baby he'll hurt Joe if he disobeys him. That's it. I see no reason for this elaborate honeytrap thing. Does Doc, an Atlanta gangster, really have access to young women spies? Prostitutes maybe, to blackmail officials with, but not ones who can act out a convincing relationship.

Interesting theory. I prefer it over her just being another magical pixie girl who appears in the life of the hero. It makes me think of the Bill Macy film, The Cooler, and with Alec Baldwin used a woman to keep him from leaving his control.
