Can we take a second to appreciate the camera work? How much effort must go into finding a single MOUSE in the MOUNTAINS, and then stalking it to set up hidden cameras along its regular routes. Just wow.
@pansepot1490
@pansepot1490 7 ай бұрын
It’s not a single mouse. That’s the magic of editing. They film a ton of footage of god knows how many animals over a long period and then they select the best clips and paste them together to create a narrative. To be clear, I am not saying it’s not an amazing camera work because it certainly is. Just that they didn’t stalk just one critter.

Their camera work always astounds me, but in this case I actually don't think it was as difficult as some of the others, the visibility in those mountains with the high quality lenses they have they can see from extremely far away.

Once, high on the Cascade Trail in Grand Teton National Park, my friend and I met a pika biologist on a rockfall full of nests. We learned that there are about 60-ish pika specialists worldwide, but this small academic community examines them as indicators of changing climate (they lose foraging time as temperatures increase). We were awed when the biologist let out a shrill, complex response to a distant pika call, then self-consciously explained that he knew a few dozen vocalizations. It was years ago, but my friend and I still can't believe we met a guy who was fluent in pika language!

Pika's locomotion is sheer beauty. At a glance, unsteady & uncomfortable substrates are full of obstacles for an animal racing against time, but he takes no notice of it. Cute Thief Story 😂😂
@cuddlepaws4423
@cuddlepaws4423 7 ай бұрын
So adorable! That little thief reminded my husband and myself of our dwarf Russian hamsters. One would make a lovely nest behind the wheel and the other would nick off with it and put it in a coconut. Also, one would gather a stash of treats and the choice food out of the food dish and again, the other would come and nick it and stash it. Then the roles would change, and the first hamster would come and thieve it back. The world's cutest Benny Hill routine would also ensue, as when a treat was put in for each hamster. The first treat taken by the first hamster was obviously the best, so there would be much chasing and creaking and squeaking which broadly translated as, 'sod off this is my stash!' The Pica squeaks and eeks sounded so like our hamsters, only they also did little creaks of displeasure when they got mugged. And even more adorable was that you could hear the hamsters when they were asleep and snoring. Often we had three of the little fluff balls in a nice big cage on multi levels. The third hamster would emerge from their bedding, yawn, even preen a little, then saunter over and find two servings of food left over. That savvy hamster would then nibble and then stuff its pouches to its heart's content while chaos ruled around it.

Nature's gardeners. Cleaning up the weeds! They are so adorable! David Attenborough's warm, loving narration always makes a documentary extra special.

I am amazed at the amount of work it must have took to get some of those shots, like the one of the lazy neighbor standing on top of a rock, or the one with the foliage suddenly disappearing
