Haha, a little twitchy on the ground....I like that. Looks like a blast to fly. I can't believe the g forces this thing can take. Amazing little plane. You are living my dream Earl.

I've flown that airplane! The caption is spot on, they don't get much smaller at all. The baby Great Lakes will make a Pitts S1 look big. The tail wheel is lockable so for takeoff and landing is tracks quite straight. For 85 HP the baby lakes gets up and goes with exceptional climb performance. Be ready when you pull back the throttle because this little bipe comes down as fast as it goes up. All in all, fun airplane to fly and glad I had the chance to fly one.

With some of the taller pilots, their heads are so high, I wonder if they need to look over the top of the wing instead of under it?

If the linkage to my tailwheel was that slack and floppy, my ground handling would be twitchy too !

Capt Larry Linkage is hanging loose. I have seen alternating comments about twitchiness of the Smith Miniplane as well. I have to wonder if there is a tracking problem with the landing gear?

Just to add a bit a scale, can someone tell me how tall Earl was or is if he's still with us.

I too have a baby lakes. I like the curve of the windscreen. Mine is flat and the wind noise is incredible! Where are you located?

Starr Bumblebee is a lot smaller ;)

Lucky for me I didn't title the video "absolutely the smallest airplane ever built" ;-)

+CHOPPERGIRL AIRWAR The Bumblebee is a lot smaller but it's barely flyable, built only to make the smallest plane record, and then retired. The Baby Lakes is a popular sport plane, with many flying.

The 'Bumblebee' is a show plane that is flown only occasionally. While this type of biplane can be flown every day WO strain.
