Found it odd that of all the people the Doctor was calling out to on the radio, he never once called Tasi's name even though he names almost everyone else. This game takes place in Algeria my home country , in the south. to be exact ,the place is called The Tassili Desert the place has a mind blowing beauty ..and the reason of the french flags and the french accent is : obviously this story happend in 40s or 50s when the country was a french colonization .and The Touareg are the original people in that area. Salim and yasmine are Algerian names ..... my mind is blown by the details in this game . the world barely knows this country although we have huge culture in it

Just want this to be clear. Amnesia: Rebirth is stated to serve as a sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent and is set in March 1937, approximately 100 years after the events of The Dark Descent. And much like The Dark Descent, this game too has multiple endings. Have fun.

I started watching your content a little before the dark decent days. Tiny Box Tim was one of the first things I remember from when I started watching you. This is so nostalgic. I would've never gotten into the KZbin gaming scene if I hadn't found your videos back then. You've really changed my life for the better, Mark. For historical context, at this point in history, the "Scramble for Africa" had occurred decades prior during the Industrial Revolution, where most of the major powers of the world set up colonies in Africa. After World War 2, this faded out and became the Africa we know today, but this takes place in the 1930's before WW2. France had control over a lot of northern Africa, including countries like Algeria and Morocco. Tasi and the rest of her team are supposedly going to French-occupied Africa to research some archaeological site, which is why we see an abandoned French military fort.

1:06:24...This an unfinished letter by Daniel, the protagonist of Dark Descent, and he's writing this to his younger sister who suffers a life-long sickness. Their father was abusive and neglectful and the unfinished text shows that Daniel didn't know how to mention him in the letter. I knew I recognized that diary date outline from somewhere! Daniel is known for his countless diary entries spread throughout the castle. I'm sorry if this was obvious but figuring this out myself solely by remembering Amnesia lore was rewarding and I wanted to share!

There's also a few other references to Amnesia. Aloysius, the corpse found in the other dimension, was frequently mentioned throughout The Dark Descent, and I think there are even pictures of him. In Aloysius' letter, he also references Brennenburg, the Shadow and the Orb. This all sorta implies that whatever is happening here might be a direct result of what went down in Castle Brennenburg.

Also, she may be TIMID, as in, she has Trauma Induced Memory Identification Disorder. I speculate that it's due to Alys having died, which is why she's portrayed having plants growing on her. A parent losing a child is an excruciating thing, and it's driven many mad from the pain and sorrow, so her getting amnesia wouldn't be implausible, due to her troubled mind rejecting those memories. The possibly more disturbing thing that could be taking place is the rebirth mentioned in the title, in that it could possibly be her giving birth to her daughter a second time, or she'll have a son that's Samin reincarnated. Or, even more disturbing, she's going to give birth to herself.

It's fascinating to watch Mark play a game after having played it myself for once. I notice how little the game affects him, the things he does that i would never even think of doing. If you've seen Sovietvomble play alien isolation, then you know how i play horror games. Extremely slowly and carefully, doing my absolute utmost to avoid death at all costs. Meanwhile, Mark sees the monster at the top of the stairs and after half a second of shock chases after it screaming. It is mindboggling. It just shows how insusceptible he has become to horror after years and years of playing these games. I personally think this game, and many other games, are made for people like me. That first house, the one with the monster, took me like 2 hours to get through without ever actually pausing (if you dont count closing the door with the lock and standing there for a couple of minutes while gathering courage). I was absolutely certain that the monster was in there with me and it would find me if i made too much noise, stalking in the shadows. I think marks comment of "Why are they just toying with me" comes from the fact that he didnt go slowly and carefully, and from his perspective the monster should know where he was at all times. Those points that was "Toying" for mark was a moment of panic and hiding for me, a moment of "wait for it to pass and dont make a sound" Anyway, it's just fascinating to get this new perspective on Mark and the games that he plays, even though it's frustrating to see how things that scared the living daylights out of me and makes me hide in a corner makes him go "that was scary" and just continue 😋

It's... actually not an effigy, though. Effigies are meant to depict something or someone specific, are usually lifelike in size, and you typically burn them for a symbolic reason. What Mark called a statue is probably an idol.

If you'll recall: Johann Weyer and Professor Herbert were both people mentioned in Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Professor Herbert led the expedition to Algeria where Daniel found the Orb. It is later implied that the Shadow killed Herbert and the rest of the expedition, as they seemingly vanished in the plains of Algeria. But clearly, Herbert made it to The Other World where you (Tasi) found his body. Johann Weyer was a friend of Agrippa's (Agrippa was the man trapped in Brennenburg whose head you may choose to remove in The Dark Descent). Weyer and Agrippa had worked with Alexander with an orb, but when it was finally time for Alexander to go back to his home world, which I assume is this Other World, Weyer jumped into the portal instead. So Weyer is the one who made it into the Other World, while Alexander had to stay behind. If you choose to remove Agrippa's head and throw it into Alexander's portal, Agrippa will then ask Weyer to save Daniel in a cutscene. I am saying this because A: you found a dead Herbert and his notes, and B: you found a whole bunch of notes that referenced Weyer. Just refreshing your memory, and ensuring you that this game seems to be very connected to The Dark Descent.
